If it it doesn't have a verifiable fault, hard cheese! It does explain why they do not put them on display, alongside decent quality T.V.'s.

most large flat tv's sound rubbish--i use a soundbar with a big sub.
Haven't seen a Hitachi TV for ages where I'm at. The local TV market is dominated by Samsung, the most aggressive market player. The main Japanese players are Panasonic & Sony, which have lost a lot of market share to Samsung in recent years
There is consumer protection in the EU.

The new gen Sonys have the best picture quality of all screens. 100%.
Stan has a good suggestion. We also add a speaker system to our very cheap TVs, the sound quality can end up better than a very expensive TV.
@ gorbatchov - If the TV does not have a fault, there is definitely no returning it if it has been plugged in and set up, because it is classed as second-hand and is now un-sellable by Argos. (according to the manager)
The huge 30-day return poster in-store specifically states that not all items are included if you change your mind.
I've learned a lesson or two.
Always worth a try returning it.
The last thing Argos wants is your letter in the local rag or complaints to the local Trading Standards.
I once bought a mitre saw from B&Q. I used it and returned it because the angles were not accurate. They moaned but still gave me a refund.
