    So, up till now, the anti-education rhetoric has been enough...

    ...now they're actively getting rid of higher-ranking WT reps - demonstrable assets - who have it?

    Dumbasses.

    As far as I'm concerned, only the "Truest" of True Believers would cut off their nose to spite their face like that.

    I was right... they're gonna end up with a "Worldwide Body" of morons.

    They are still accepting new Bethelites but it is no longer a career it is an experience. You won't be a lifer anymore. The jobs that can be done from a remote location they are doing that, but printing, maintenance construction and things that can't be done remotely are still being done inside Bethel. Even some Legal and Service department work is being done by remote workers.

    Clever , capable people do join cults ( or , much more often , are brought up / brainwashed into them by their parents / peers / culture ( think any religion from JWs through Mormons through Islam. ) Though in 40+ years as a JW , I never really met anyone especially outstanding in any area - unlike my secular work , where I have met some really astonishingly bright , aware , clever people. To an extent , being immersed in a cult does lobotomise all of us to a degree - some people more than others.

    I remember an interview at an assembley where they interviewed a young brother who was a talented musician and was a piano player in a band. He had to choose between serving Jehovah and touring with the band. He chose Jehovah. Two years later the band was an international name.

    Interviewer: Any regrets brother?

    Him: None whatsoever.

    <round of applause>

    The band was called Coldplay.

    Dick.

    BOC: engineering programs ... [do not] really requires critical thinking

    Right, nor do they teach independent thinking or the questioning authority.

    Engineers are generally conformists and rule-followers.
