The Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body are Elitists (Here is why)

An "elite" group is one which has special privileges not granted to others.

And obscurantist elite, is a group which hides information by virtue of its own claim to be special and a sole source in dispensing necessary truths.

    To wit:

The GB's elitism shines through in articles such as this:

“Thus the Bible is an organizational book and belongs to the Christian congregation as an organization, not to individuals , regardless of how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the Bible . For this reason the Bible cannot be properly understood without Jehovah’s visible organization in mind .”— The Watchtower, October 1, 1967, p. 587

We all need help to understand the Bible , and we cannot find the Scriptural guidance we need outside the ‘faithful and discreet slave’ organization .”— The Watchtower,February 15, 1981, p. 19

Slowly, like an anaconda tightening around its victim, the Watchtower has made this ever more and more clear:

Does ‘the faithful and discreet slave’ [Watchtower organization] endorse independent groups of Witnesses who meet together to engage in Scriptural research or debate? —Matt. 24:45, 47. No, it does not. And yet, in various parts of the world, a few associates of our organization have formed groups to do independent research on Bible-related subjects. Some have pursued an independent group study of Biblical Hebrew and Greek so as to analyze the accuracy of the New World Translation. …They have also held conferences and produced publications to present their findings and to supplement what is provided at our Christian meetings and through our literature. … Thus, ‘the faithful and discreet slave’ does not endorse any literature, meetings, or Web sites that are not produced or organized under its oversight … For those who wish to do extra Bible study and research, we recommend that they explore Insight on the Scriptures,All Scripture Is Inspired of God and Beneficial,’ and our other publications ….”— Kingdom Ministry, September 2007, p. 3

    How about this crazy one?

“They say that it is sufficient to read the bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home. But, strangely, through such ‘Bible reading,’ they have reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by Christendom’s clergy were teaching 100 years ago…”— The Watchtower, August 15, 1981, pp. 28-29

Is it too much to expect from the Governing Body that they train their members in actual Universities where they must pass courses and defend theses, to interpret, to criticize and to discriminate what is sound from error and falsehood on a level educational playing field?

The GB needs to suspend judgement where they are prone to judge without factual reasons if they agree or disagree with historical Christianity. Instead, they simply MAKE STUFF UP out of thin air and point to it as having been delivered by heaven into their laps alone!

    What outrageous poppycock!

    QUOTE OF THE DAY:

A sermon at a Kingdom Hall is well described as the process whereby the outline of the speaker becomes the notes of the listener without passing through the mind of either of them.

Is it too much to expect
either to personally discern what is being said? Without discernment, the individual allows anything into the mind without making a personal examination or judgment.

Is it too much to expect for JW's to get out of the habit of automatically AGREEING with what they are told by the GB or automatically

DISagreeing with information from every other source? “To agree without understanding is inane. To disagree without understanding is impudent.”

Is it too much to expect JW's to understand that there are genuine mysteries in the world which mark the limits of knowing and thinking--and--that the Watchtower is severely limited by its ignorance and self-deception in being able to reduce everything to a black and white simplicity?

“ Wisdom is fortified, not destroyed, by understanding its limitations. ”

Is it too much to expect JW's to know it is much easier to please a stupid person by giving them easier answers?

"Do as you are told" is not the meaning of life.

Being told what to think by self-anointed elitists who obscure and forbid honest research

is a situation we must continue to illuminate in conversation, in posts on FACEBOOK, in our e-mails and casual encounters. From small seeds mighty forests grow.

''Elitists'', and by looking down on the rank and file. Exactly!!! King(s) of the castle so to speak.

Yes, I agree very elitist. You could also liken it to a sort of religiously based "feudalist" system whereby the "ruling class" (GB) own all the information and only allow the "tenants" of that "kingdom" selected information. Since information is the currency who holds the information holds all the power thus creating a power imbalance that keeps the "subjects" pacified, compliant and obedient all the while being told that this system is for the benefit of all.

Or you could just call it a cult.

Information control and mind control = cult.

As with the WTS and its expressive doctrines which support the actual sustainability of its structured power as well its incoming finances, is it all surprising that its positioned leaders are elitists ?

When someone proclaims that they have been chosen as god's earthly arrangement above all others , you should assume these men are going to be elitists.

When a JWS gets baptized they have to make a solemn vow of devotion to these leaders, from then on forward you are watched with careful scrutiny that you are.

Good quotes, Terry. I remember that one around 1981 during the Bethel Apostasy and the Ray Franz and others demonization.

Private study groups of more than 2 families was not allowed any more, and one single person plus one single person equaled 2 families but 4 person family and a 6 person family was okay.

When men proclaim that they and only they have the true and correct bible interpretations of the bible, that's elitism.

All religions try to get their members to adhere to their purpose and goal. I run a couple of small companies. I have a business vision. Is it wrong to ask my employees to adhere to my vision and not deviate too far from it?

What about a franchise? A franchisor has to develop rules and regulations down to the finest detail. A franchisee is not allowed to deviate one iota from the written plan. Imagine if McDonalds franchises went astray. What would happen? The brand would be damaged. Similar, any organized religion must have certain stipulations or the brand, or religion, will be damaged or altered. Consistency must be maintained, or as we know it, unity.

To compare high controlling religious cults like the JW with commercial businesses is being intellectually dishonest, they operate and function unique within themselves.

A person can work at McDonald's for example and be subservient to its arranged directives for its employees but after decide to leave with no complications to their lives, perhaps even gain some value experience.

If a person wants to leave the JW and pursue a different religion or none at all that person would risk losing their family for the rest of their lives. Likewise if a person were to be born into this religion and found out as they matured into an adult that that it was untruthful and deceiving and wanted to leave they too would be shunned and possible lose their family.

Can you name a business where if you wanted to leave and not participate in it with the intent of pursuing another career that you have to forfeit your family maybe even your wife or husband ?

The differences are clearly defined and obvious.

The opertive behavioral controls between a business and a religions cult are distinctly different and shouldn't be compared as the same .

In the overview perspective of overall behavior controls , religious cults are much more over reaching into person's life than what a commercial business has within its structural controls.

Wow. You are really dumb. Seriously. I've tried to be somewhat nice to you, MMAUB, but you are uber-watchtarded. You can't even see how obtuse you are.

Your "defense" of the WTBTS is, "They need to protect their brand, just like a business." That is the most deplorable, immoral, legalistic, bull-shit excuse that any Watchtard has ever spouted from their watchtarded gob.

Back to the subject.... The WTBTS leaders, the Gibbering Buddy, claim that "so called "bible study"..", leads to the views of Christendom's scholars. Hmmmm...????? The very same scholars that knew decades upon decades in advance of the GB, that all Xians were domestics and there is no slave "class" and that no one has been appointed over the Master's belongings yet...

Thank goodness those evil scholars exist or the WTBTS "brand" would already be gone.

    DD

    ps. MMAUB is dumb.
