You are wrong. Defacing money means to try to do it to defraud. Like ripping off the end of a 10 and put it on a 1. You may ask what does that get you, well you can turn in a torn bill for a new one if its 3/4 there. So do that to two tens and tape the ten ends on to a one and it will pass 99 percent of the time. I got one at a bank once. People who cut quarters and dimes to make jewelry are not defacing.
- You CANNOT change the denomination — for example, you cannot add two zeros to a one dollar bill and pretend that it’s a one hundred dollar bill. That’s illegal.
- You CANNOT burn, shred, or destroy currency, rendering it unfit for circulation.
- You CANNOT advertise a business on paper currency. For example, if you own a Bagel shop, you cannot stamp “Eat at Joe’s Bagel’s” on a dollar.

Actually I would like to get a stamp that says Jehovahs Witnesses protect pedophiles. Put it on 1 dollar bills and give them to the contribution box. Or have a pimo person put it in.

Mick: I'll admit that after I read your response to me, I decided to look up, on the Internet, articles about what is, and is not, defacing of currency. And, there are different schools of thought about what "defacing" money means. But, if it had been me that got that 20-Dollar bill as change in a transaction, I would have brought it my bank, and asked for a replacement "20", and told the teller to send that bill back to the closest Federal Reserve Bank to destroy it and get it out of circulation. I wouldn't want it "circulating" any more, as valid currency. It seems to me that whoever "illustrated" the back of that "20" was putting a political message, a political statement, on the bill, because of it having an illustration of the White House on the back of it. (Which, to me, is a rather childish, juvenile thing to do.) But---supposing---just supposing---sometime during 2017 through 2020, someone had taken a 20-Dollar bill, and wrote on the back of it, this statement: "Impeach Trump and get that carnival barker out of office." (And, that would also be a childish, juvenile thing to do) If I saw that, I still would have brought the bill to my bank, requested a replacement bill, and told the teller to send it back to the local Federal Reserve System bank, for the purpose of destroying it and getting it out of circulation. I do believe that our currency, our paper money is not the place to write out political messages, political statements, no matter who the President and Vice-President are, and what your own political beliefs are. @titch: I agree it’s juvenile, people did it during Trump as well, from both sides, some would taunt the left, others would add some kind of threat to the then sitting President. You can still buy stamps that were made for this activity that mention Trump.
I do think, that unless this renders the currency unusable, it is basically a First Amendment issue.
The reason people are doing this though is because they feel they have no voice, so they are writing it on money, chanting it at football games, because the media doesn’t cover it and social media actively suppresses it.
Yesterday Mexico was invaded by thousands of immigrants and beat up the national guard, stole their gear and vowed to fight at the US border, they are heading over to Del Rio. Meanwhile thousands are already here and have also started a campaign of assaulting and evading border officers. Why is that not a story? Why is Biden and Kamala (who is supposed to be in charge of the border crisis) hiding? People are getting to know, by word of mouth, and Texas will soon see even more death and a de-facto war with the cartels that arm and bring these people.
