JWs closer to Islam than to Christianity.

Conveniently, the writer defines Christianity in distinctively non-Biblical terms. In his mind, JWs aren't Christian because they reject a particular teaching that he interprets into the Bible. A teaching, BTW, that the Bible never actually explains and requires a lot of glue and paperclips to keep together.

I'll let the believers debate whether or not the Trinity is true, but the definition of Christian is a follower or believer of (Jesus) Christ. There are any of a number of ways that belief can be taken, and seemingly endless interpretations of what is correct or incorrect doctrine.

Also... a Catholic criticizing the sordid history of ANY other religion?

    I mean coooooome oooon!

At least JWs only look bad in terms of contemporary religious experience, which has mostly become neutered in the developed world after centuries of struggle. Catholicism has a very long and evil history, including endless scandals they're guilty of in the century and a half since Watchtower has come into existence. The whole "damn! look at that messed up religion!" thing is hypocritical and ridiculous.

And WTB&TS /Jehovah`s Witnesses have done a pretty good job of achieving endless scandals of sexual child abuse all around the world in only their what, 100+ 36 years of existence ?

As to the OP Islam doesn`t pay much attention Jesus regarding him as only a prophet.

Jehovah`s Witnesses don`t give Jesus that much credit either , their focus is on the God of the Old Testament who they call Jehovah / Yahweh the more correct pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton.

"...If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment Islam would not exist today..."

A statement which, IMO, reveals every authoritarian regime's fundamental flaw, no matter what claim to legitimacy they may have...

...that fear is vital for the regime to keep its populace obedient and submissive (and therefore nominally supportive of) said regime's legitimacy....

...but the inherent cruelty involved in maintaining order through fear completely invalidates any claims of said regime's authentic legitimacy.

    ...

In other words, if the only effective way to maintain your authority is through fear, then you have no right to possess or wield authority in the first place.
