Is It Possible The Jehovah's Witnesses Are Led By The "Man of Lawlessness"?

    To all current Jehovah's Witnesses:

The "Report" Book (written October 1994) on page 201, made the following startling prediction about all Jehovah's Witnesses and their future relationship with the Governing Body by saying:

“...And so, the Watchtower magazine under the present-day Governing Body arrangement, is placed on the same level, given parity and equal status, with God’s Word. Jehovah’s Witnesses are subtly encouraged to view it as such. With the Governing Body controlling the contents of the Watchtower magazine, one needs no imagination to see how this special "tool" could be easily used to capture and manipulate the "minds and hearts of sincere persons" earth-wide and eventually exact unquestioned obedience, as would a "god." -- See 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4.

Thus, we see the stage set for this Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses, since the decision was made to empower this special “body of elders” on December 4, 1975 and which became fully operational January 1, 1976, to become “a god” or the “man of lawlessness” spoken of at 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12 which wickedly dominates God’s Name People, mystery “Israel.” Yes, and this would be according to the “operation” of Satan or the “working within” the organization by Satan. (See 2 Thessalonians 2:9 Kingdom Interlinear Translation under “operation”) Crafty, insidious and diabolical indeed!

    End of quote

Being one of Jehovah's Witnesses yourself, how do you feel about such a deeply disturbing prediction being made about your religion?

    ...any thoughts?

God's name people? They are called Christians. JW's don't like the fact that the name of JESUS is the highest name in the universe.

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory - 1 Tim. 3: 16

the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow - Phil 2: 9-10

The GB are lost leaders guiding a lost people.

Does not say God, says Who!

1 Tim. 3: 16 And confessedly, great is the mystery of godliness: Who was revealed in the flesh, was justified in the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

What name did God give and what does it mean?

Phil 2: 9-10 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, that at the name of Jesus Jehoshua every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Luke 1:31 and, look! you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you are to call his name Jesus Jehoshua.

    'Jehovah is salvation'

    Hi johnamos,

Perhaps I should have clarified a "textus receptus" basis for that scripture. Millions and millions of Christians have done their research and only accept the textus receptus on matters of doctrine. This was the bible for over 300 years of Reformation and when Christianity and grew by leaps and bounds.

This was of course replaced by the critical text of Wescott & Hort (1888) who rejected common sense and were also involved in spiritualism during the "translation years". Their translation relied heavily on Vaticanus and Sinaiticus which were written over and over again by at least 5 different scribes, making the original writing impossible to discern.

Most people are unaware that about 65% of all new testament verses are quoted in the early Christian congregation writings (during the first 300 or so years), mostly by the leaders who were writing each other. One of the main reasons they wrote each other was to defend sound doctrine against errors introduced by troublesome individuals. In these writings, they name names and unacceptable teachings, making it relatively easy for someone to research now what was common belief in the years immediately following the resurrection, and who was responsible for the deviations.

    For instance:

    Ignatius

Ignatius was an apostolic congregation leader. In other words, he was someone who had received his instruction straight from one of the apostles.... In this case the apostle John. He was presiding overseer in Antioch, which is where believers were first called "Christians". At the end of his life, he was thrown to lions in the Colosseum in Rome.

Here is a quote from him:

"For some are in the habit of carrying about the name [of Jesus Christ] in wicked guile, while yet they practice things unworthy of God, whom you must flee as you would wild beasts. For they are ravening dogs, who bite secretly, against whom you must be on your guard, inasmuch as they are men who can scarcely be cured. There is one Physician who is possessed both of flesh and spirit; both made and not made; God existing in flesh; true life in death; both of Mary and of God; first passible and then impassible — even Jesus Christ our Lord."

    Other testimonies regarding 1 Tim. 3: 16:

Gregory of Nyssa33 quotes the text 22 times using “God” and not “who” or “which”.

Gregory of Nazianzus gives “God” twice.

Didimus of Alexandria cites it with “God” three times.

Pseudo-Dionysius of Alexandria quotes the passage with the word “God” four times.

Diodorus of Tarsus cites it with “God” five times.

John Chrysostom cites it with “God” and not “who” at least three times.

We find this same referral to the text always with “God” and not with “who” in Cyril of Alexandria

If I believed in the Bible I would say yes. Actually I think that WT maybe a thought experiment to see if they can get people to believe in them while doing all the things the Bible says not to do or believe. I mean here are a few examples, the Bible says don’t have titles the Borg has titles, the Bible says not to follow ones that say the end is near the Borg says the end is near, the Bible says don’t exalt yourselves they the Borg exalt themselves. The Bible says theres one message of the good news the Borg teaches another message, I could go on and on and on.

Personally, I think they are led by 8 bumbling oafs who would be hard-pressed to get hired as Walmart greeters if removed from their insular environment.

More recent comments from the WTS on the man of lawlessness (also considered the Antichrist) (their take is all religious leaders of religions who claim to be Christian except the WTS). No one wants to claim the title Antichrist or man of lawlessness. I don't really feel that I need the bible to identify who men of lawlessness are.

Christ’s “presence” since 1914 has gone unnoticed by most of earth’s inhabitants. (2 Pet. 3:3, 4) Soon, however, he will make his presence manifest by executing Jehovah’s judgments on the various elements of Satan’s system of things. The destruction of “the man of lawlessness,” the clergy of Christendom, will be an unmistakable “manifestation of his presence.” (Read 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 8.)

    2008

6 Some among the early Christians turned apostate and gained followers. (Acts 20:29, 30) While Jesus’ apostles were living, they acted as “a restraint” against such apostasy, but after they died, many false Christian sects developed. Today, there are hundreds of conflicting religions in the realm of Christendom. The Bible pointed to the rise of Christendom’s clergy, describing them collectively as “the man of lawlessness” and “the son of destruction . . . whom the Lord Jesus will do away with . . . and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence.”—2 Thess. 2:3, 6-8.

    7. Why does the expression “man of lawlessness” fit Christendom’s clergy?

7 Christendom’s clergy are lawless in that they have misled millions by promoting teachings, holidays, and behavior contrary to the Bible. Like the religious leaders whom Jesus condemned, the modern-day worshippers who are part of “the son of destruction” face destruction with no hope of a resurrection. (2 Thess. 1:6-9)

A lot of people don't realize this, but it's actually really unlikely that the Bible writers were actually talking about specific individuals when they used labels like "Man of Lawlessness", "Wicked One", or "Antichrist".

They were more likely rhetorical expressions, referring to anyone who fit the bill.

    Hi all,

Many thanks for your comments and thoughts above.

However, when I first composed this question and this particular topic above, I was wondering just how current, active Jehovah's Witnesses (who have recently started visiting this discussion board) view this question about the "Man of Lawlessness" and its identity.

I also wanted to know as well, how they (current, active Jehovah's Witnesses) now view the so-called Faithful & Discreet Slave or Governing Body and company, especially in view of all of the detrimental changes we have seen in recent years, occurring within the JW Organization. I was wondering if they still viewed the "Man of Lawlessness" as being the clergy of christendom, or had that viewpoint changed any with all of the recent problems and happenings of the JW Organization that are being discussed here. In other words, do they still see things the same as before.

....any thoughts on the "Man of Lawlessness" from current, active Jehovah's Witnesses among us here today?

...Now is your time to speak up.

    Thanks,

    Observer

    Honest Counselor says:

Oh what these men will due to try to appear relavent and potent…”ready at the helm” as it were when the reality is very sad and bleak for them indeed! http://www.watchtowercriminals.blogspot.com:

“Even people close to them will be no refuge so that they will have to hide in plain site while claiming to be merely working class (John 12:25). However, they won’t be able to fool those who are seeking them out for their crimes:

    Zechariah 13: (3), 4-6

    4. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, (which painfully miserably failed and with deadly effect) when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:

    5. But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman (Farmer); for a man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.

    6. And one shall say unto him, What are these (fresh, from lack of calluses) wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, those I received (Playing about) in the house of my close friends.”

    And:

“It is already clearly stated prophetically that “The Light of Truth” or “Spiritual Food” supply would fade, become obscure and convoluted in the very end times in harmony with Matthew 24:45-47 which merely asks the question with a promise, “Who really is the faithful and discrete slave?” (And it is only a question. The prophetic part is here: Matthew 24:48-51):

    Zechariah 14:5d, 6

5d. and the Lord my God shall come and all the saints with thee.

    6. And it shall come to pass in that day that the light shall not be clear, nor dark.

In fact, it goes on further to state in another context of “light and dark” that at the” Evening Time”, of man when “The light of salvation” or “Light of the World” (John 12:46) would be manifested to him, mankind while on the verge of self extermination, “The Eve of Destruction”.

Since Adam and Eve were the dawn of mankind, man is presently facing the virtual extinction by various means from the face of the earth at his own hand (Rev 11:18e)"
