It isn’t wasted money from the Watchtower’s perspective. At least not in the 1980s when they sold the literature. It is smart marketing, planned obsolescence just like the automobile manufacturers run their businesses.
How can you sell more books if everyone already has one?

Brothers risked their lives smuggling in this bible literature during ww2 and the cold war only to have the literature later discarded as not worth the paper they were written on!

Strange is not that god's chosen organization for all mankind constantly makes wrongful doctrinal mistakes dates etc. about Jesus's new Kingdom order.
The namesake title of The Watchtower was originally taken on as a means to see things clearly as to events about to occur.
The Watchtower says/proclaim things to occur but they always dont, going back to the late 1800's.
Why would Jehovah choose lying corrupt religoius charlatans as his spirit directed organization then ?
