If you had the means to kill a terrorist before he detonated would you ?

  I'll go one further and say kill the murderers ,pedophiles etc that can be proven without doubt , after all , If there is no god there is no-one to answer to except man himself and his authority.

  We rid the earth of filth we don't need ,forgiveness would be misplaced upon the scum of this planet ,we are no different from the animals in that we live and die so there is no moral problem here for the scum are just bad organic material.

  To me the argument that we are superior in intellect so we should show compassion beyond what the animals have is crap.

  I would double tap a head shot. How ever Id make most certain no one is behind him/ her. As an armed American Id feel proud to do so.

  What is this, the trolley problem simplified edition? At least make it interesting:

  Suppose you pass by a traintrack. On the traintrack is a very fat terrorist. You notice a trolley with 3 terrorists are rolling towards the fat terrorist. If you don't push the fat terrorist aside he will be overrun by the trolley and die, however if you push the fat terrorist off the track the three terrorists will continue along the track and eventually fly off a cliff. What do you do?

  Yes, especially because the torso may be protected with body armor. Or a thick layer of plastique. Proportionate defense of innocent lives (using force as necessary to end the threat, while not succumbing to rage) is both legitimate and morally demanded of those with the opportunity and means to do so.

  @bohm,

  What kind of trolley is this? Are you saying the fat terrorist is so fat that he would stop the trolley? And yet the trolley would kill him.... maybe he is so blubberful that it would gum up the wheels. Good lord, that is one fat terrorist. I think I would chance it. Let it run over the fat one and see if it just continues off the cliff.

  A small wooden box arrives on the doorstep of a married couple, who know that opening it will grant them a million dollars and kill someone they don't know.

  (I'm sure it was "pressing the button" ... maybe that's the book version I read?)
  

  So they take the box apart and decide that it doesn't contain anything so can't really harm anyone, and they press the button.

  The creepy guy who left it returns, notes that they have pressed it (it's a test) and as he's leaving says "I'll give this box to someone else ... someone who doesn't know you"

  Yes, the person who dies is the previous owner of the box. If you refuse to press the button, you save yourself.

  Everyone fails the test.

  I have a friend who is a Dr Who fan. He told me there's an episode where the Dr (Tom Baker) is given the chance to kill an infant Hitler. The Dr flatly refuses as it's still murder. I agree with that. However, the moment Adolf is about to give orders to end lives then he should be taken out.
  

  I think under this condition i would be willing to kill the moment they decide to commit to their plan... as they're on their way to the Manchester Arena with a bag of explosives.
