Based on what I see at our local KH....

Home-schooling, by zealous JW parents, is about the most absolute-sure-fire way to produce kids, and later adults, who are intellectually, emotionally, & ethically messed up to a degree that would shock the most jaded psychiatrist.

Almost inevitably, if you run into a total wack-job wing-nut JW who has been "raised in the truth", you will find he / she was also home-schooled.

I went to public school as many other of my peers. But I've seen a portion to JWs who were homeschooled. They did not seem properly educated.

I had no chance of learning social skills from my parents and I was put through home school on and off. It was garbage.

Hopefully those kids will get jobs and go to college ASAP... Right?

Can be. I will say that home school allowed me to fill the time with whatever interested me, and I dug into a lot of topics that I might not have otherwise.

However, I stayed in the cult for years and didn't leave as a teenager. And only when I took a few college classes did I learn about evolution, which I may well not have done had I not gone to college.

Yes...we had some family members that home schooled their kids. Now the kids are grown...pioneering, Bethelites & need greaters. They also have no jobs, no home and no money!

Unless the parents are adhering to a tried and true curriculum which are available and keep kids up to typical public school levels they are doing the kids no favor. And from what I've seen a significant number of home schooling parents do not have the teaching skills or discipline to enforce a 5 hour a day scholastic experience. That plus the lack of peer group can create a kid who just can't keep up to age appropriate life skills. Couple those factors with the anti social dub mindset and you have a recipe for one pathetic mixed up kid. It is especially bad for clever talented kids who need above average mental stimulation and creativity.

Part of this home schooling concept has to do with worldly education which will become useless in the new order.

Keeping your children away from bad association or influence from ( Non-JWS ) is deemed beneficial and will support and strengthen your child's spirituality.

The end result these children will have difficulty working in social coherency with the outside secular world.

Jehovah will destroy this world soon anyways so best to distance oneself from it for the prevailing dangers .

Home schooling is good for children with disabilities. It helps them focus on learning and not deal with the social anxiety of attending school. They may face the fear of being bullied and failing in school because the teachers do not have the time or the resources to help them. There are well structured home school programs that could greatly help the child if followed strictly. The Calvert school program is one such example.

I was home schooled from a young age and I think the reason for it is that the child will not be put under pressure to do "worldly things" at school. My mom also thought public schools weren't good enough at teaching kids how to read and write. I think what happens is that these kids are in even more of a bubble than normal JW kids. As a kid I never really knew any kids that weren't JWs, so to me everything seemed perfectly normal. I imagine if I had gone to a regular school I may have been exposed to differing views and not gotten baptized at such a young age.

I must say though that I notice some people think a good education can't be attained through home schooling. This isn't the case there are many alternative schools were most of the work is done at home but teachers and tutors are available when needed. It also depends on how much time the parents devote to it. I went to an alternative school but was still able to go to a four year university. The real problem is you don't learn how to make any friends. Everybody you know is from this little small group of JW kids, those are your friends almost by default.
