    Excellent comments by everyone.

The offer God makes to the whole world is called Substitutionary Atonement. It is denied to Jehovah’s Witnesses by their leadership.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him – 2 Cor. 5: 21

Jesus' contract states in so many words: “My unending LIFE for yours. I will take your punishment due you if you will take my life inside of you”….hence the significance of eating his “flesh” and drinking his “blood” (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit).... The key point is that an exchange takes place here.

“Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament [contract] in my blood: this do ye [all of you]”

This is a very real contract that is unto the death of both parties. It is a BLOOD COVENANT in the fullest possible meaning of the term. It is sealed by the death of BOTH signatories. In the case of Jesus – on Calvary Hill; and in the case of humans who accept the offer – they die as unto themselves. They give up the rights to themselves and invite God into their lives.

Christ substitutes in our place on the Cross for the wages of sin that is due us, and we become the “righteousness of God” due him, since we are made in his image. We cannot do it ourselves. The LAW proved that. It is simply impossible. So, God offers to do it for us. It is a very gracious offer.

The individual is no longer the Captain of his or her own life, God is; making you debt-free. This also means that any other person, creed, or religion is ALSO no longer the boss of your life.

"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed". - Jesus

It is a very simple offer and easy to understand.

Jesus ALONE paid our debt. The Watchtower didn't. Since no other contract is offered in the New Testament, if we try to make anyone (or any thing) else a party to the contract other than Jesus, the contract is null and void.

The enemy has done back flips for 2000 years trying to squeeze in another party to the contract..., Mary, the Pope, Infant Baptism, The Governing Body, the Mormon Priest hood, your good works etc. ..... anything except Christ Alone.

The contractual additions are nothing but idols and that is why they are so staunchly defended. The enemy knows that all of those false contracts are worthless.

Since the Watchtower states that Jesus plays the role of a mediator only in the instance of the new covenant and between spiritual Israelites/144,000 and God.

The next question to consider is what does the Watchtower teach that New Covenant is? It is very different to what most religions and bible scholars teach. Also, the Watchtower teaches of two different covenants in the New Testament as achieving the same thing. Look up Covenants in their Insight book.

I have contempt for those who try to squeeze themselves in and act as a broker to try and take a cut

Here is the response of a seasoned JW to my question.

    Vanderhoven said...

So to be clear....are you saying that the Great Crowd do not have or need a mediator?

So to be clear the "Great Crowd" do not need a "mediator".

    Hears why.

The original-language word translated “mediator” is a legal term. It refers to Jesus as a legal Mediator (or, in a sense, an attorney) of the new covenant that made possible the birth of a new nation, “the Israel of God.” (Galatians. 6:16) This nation is composed of spirit-anointed Christians, who form a heavenly “royal priesthood.” (1 Peter. 2:9; Ex. 19:6) The Law covenant, with Moses as mediator, was not able to produce a nation like that.

What does Jesus’ role as Mediator involve? Well, Jehovah applies the value of Jesus’ blood to those being brought into the new covenant. In this way, Jehovah legally credits them with righteousness. (Romans. 3:24; Hebrews. 9:15) God can then take them into the new covenant with the prospect of their becoming heavenly king-priests! As their Mediator, Jesus assists them in maintaining a clean standing before God.—Hebrews. 2:16.

What about those who are not in the new covenant, those who hope to live forever on earth, not in heaven?

Jesus Christ is not just a "mediator" of a contract or covenant with selected group of 144,000.
Jesus serves as mankind’s Redeemer, as High Priest, as Head of the Christian congregation, and now as King of God’s Kingdom.
As High Priest, Jesus is able to “sympathize with our weaknesses” and make atonement for the sins of his dedicated followers here on earth. The apostle Paul explained: “We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tested in all respects as we have, but without sin.” Paul then encouraged those who exercise faith in Jesus Christ to take full advantage of this arrangement for reconciliation to God, saying: “Let us, then, approach the throne of undeserved kindness with freeness of speech, so that we may receive mercy and find undeserved kindness to help us at the right time.”—Hebrews. 4:14-16; 1 John 2:2.
So Jesus Christ is our High Priest, Savior, Redeemer and King....but not our mediator.

"Religions do not volunteer their most offensive doctrines to newcomers "

l re-read this thread today and realised what a sweeping generalisation that statement is . So often people do make these assertions tarring all religions with the same brush .

Can l ask what are the most offensive doctrines of other religions that they hide from newcomers ? If they hide them until people are fully initiated how do you know about them ?

I could offer my perspective but that would not be fair to Paul Grundy, since that information was quoted and referenced in my posts above from jwfacts.com.

Its a very good question you pose. Maybe another thread could be started for it.

    Hi Jan

I was going to suggest the same as the girl next door. I think that cults would have a lot more to hide from the uninitiated than most churches. I think it might make for an interesting thread.

According to the latest (faux) doctrine...
The Bible was written only for the understanding of the anointed, the 'faithful slave'. However,

only the Governing Body of the 'faithful slave' is in the central position of latter day 'prophet' and Jesus is THEIR mediator because they're his Bride.
The rest of us grab on to the coat tails of these (spiritual) Jews by doing every g-damn thing they tell us.

the girl next door and Vanderhoven7 as a life long member of the Anglican church l can state categorically that there are no hidden doctrines . You may have heard of the Alpha Courses which have been about for some time now . They are for people who just want to know more about Christianity ( the mainstream kind ) . There are videos to watch and some reading . However attendees can ask any question they like and are free to disagree with anything said . The same courses are used by Anglican , Catholic , Elim , Baptist and Methodist churches . NO hidden agenda . l am puzzled as to why this chap would say such a thing , to be honest it smacks of pure anti religious bias .

I will start another thread asking if anyone can give an example of something distasteful that they became aware of after being " fully initiated " ???? into a mainstream church .
