Hazel Grove congregation in Stockport, Cheshire, U.K.

Not only is the congregation saturated with Elders, it is/was pretty well saturated with cash - according to its 2014 financial statement to the Charities Commission. http://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/Accounts/Ends82/0001066282_AC_20140331_E_C.pdf

Its Elders are listed as Frank Broadhurst, Nick Ashton, Nigel Bailey, Noel Crossley, Peter Davies. Nick Gould, Jack Hallard, Jack Lewty, RoyLoxton, Rob MacCrea, Mark Meredith, Jeremy Richmond, Alan Rowbotham, Carl Rowbotham, Paul Sidebotham, Dave Simpkin, Pom Srisuthikul, & Dave Torkington.

Its financial statement also included this info:

" A legacy of £42,075.58, a gift aid tax refund of £1,244.75, a congregation donation to WTBTS for new bibles and witnessing stands of £750, kitchen refurbishment of £1500 and finally, we have £264,000 in trust with the WTBTS."

I wonder how much of this cash has now been "donated" to the org - thanks to an Elders' recommendation to the flock?

Anyone know of a congregation with more Elders than this?

I thought they had cleaned out the congregation accounts less $5000. So the money is still part of the congregation just held in trust by Wt.

My understanding all moneys to the WTBTS is a general fund. No designations . Am I correct? The $5000 is the only amount left in each congregation fund. After that there are forms, requests, processes, decisions (hoops) to go through to ask for anything more. I know the local hall promised rebuild has not yet been given the go ahead to build a new hall after the old one was put to market and sold. It has been nearly 4 years now.

"Very soon" is most definitely the answer anyone gets when asking when it will proceed.... UGH

I've known one with about 120 publishers and 19 elders. But 8 or 10 were more than 70. And I remember none was under 55.

I would like to see what happens if they ask for their £264,000 in trust to be returned.

There wouldn't be 18 elders for long, that's a fact!

How many are there in the congregation? How many Ministerial Servants?

Looks like they've recently sold their own KH and moved in with the Stockport Central Congregation, whose KH seems to have had a significant extension built in 2013

Oh, and London Mill Hill with 19 elders - though that might be a bit unfair.

Brooklyn Heights. 300+ publisher and 30+ elders. You could hardly read the Watchtower on sundays.

What poor old coot told them their £264,000 was ' in trust' with the Watchtower. Obviously one living in the last century.

The Widdecombe congregation in Devon has amalgamated with the Trumpton congregation of Camberwick Green. Their elders are,

Pugh, Pugh, Barney Mc Grew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb, Flack, Windy Miller, Murphy, Hazel, Bill Brewer, Jan Stewer, Peter Gurney, Peter Davey, Daniel Widden, Harry Hawke and Tom Cobleigh. Oh and Tom Pierce.

That's 18 elders. They are unique in that seven of them are firemen! (Google "Trumpton firemen" if you don't believe me.) One is a miller, one is a baker one is a postman and the remainder (the ex-Widdecombe lot) were done for cruelty to animals (Google Widecombe Fair Song) except for Tom Pierce who went to the police about it.

    True story that.
