Chelmsford is an Asbestos Dump

It might be relevant to find out which type of asbestos is buried there, not all are as dangerous as blue asbestos. It seems a tradition for the WTBTS to build on toxic dumps. Very fitting I think.

    BTW,

Chelmsford in the county of Essex (the land of the east Saxons) came to prominence as a Roman town called Caesaromagus. (Ceaser's market)

The word 'temple' in English place-names often refers to the presence of a Roman temple, the remains of which being found on the site. And this is the case here, where an octagonal Romano-Celtic temple once stood in late Roman times.

Good luck for the future. SL

I hope they find a really interesting Roman Site smack in the middle, that'll slow their development ideas down, maybe 'till Armageddon comes. LOL

The issue of land contamination was well known and accounted for at the very beginning. I cannot imagine that they would proceed (or get permission to proceed) without assurance that the decontamination would be professionally handled by licensed contractors..

Why does this not surprise me?

Maybe they figured that since the Great Trib was imminent, Jehovah would miraculously clean it up after the Big A, therefore, they'd be stupid not to take the deal that was offered.

It wouldn't be the first time a group made a lousy business decision based on flawed ideology.

(I'm only half-joking, BTW... I wouldn't be shocked if some actually thought this.)

" decontamination would be professionally handled by licensed contractors.."

I was talking to a JW involved with this project a couple of years ago, and he was talking of volunteers dealing with the contamination.

If indeed there is Asbestos to be dealt with, and they have to use proper contractors, I would bet they have not factored in this huge cost.

I was recently quoted £2,000 to remove the Asbestos roof from my one car Garage.

To reiterate. They are using a (probably) licensed qualified brother to supervise others. Some of them are young people male and female who though not themselves qualified are working under his direction. They have protective clothing covering them completely including some contraption over their heads. The workers are assured that they are safe and the org. is covering itself against any and all future claims.

However, I am glad its not my children who are in the thick of it and yes, they are doing it on the cheap with volunteer labour.
