I'm not superstitious but it does cause one to stop and think from time to time
Unfortunately it causes a lot of people to stop thinking altogether.
Welcome to the board, moonwillow
Naaaah....I'm only superstitious in my hindsight, Oz...
Example:
In 1973, when I first became borganized, I had to renew my license plates very shortly thereafter....I had a dream the night before that when I reached the counter, the clerk handed me plates that read "666"....in actuallity, when I reached the counter the next morning, the clerk did, indeed, hand me license plates with the numbers "666" on 'em....when I deborganized 19 yrs. later, I realized that I should have been superstitious about what the plates meant regarding my becoming borganized into a beastie cult....It could have saved me and my fam a LOT of misery and years of S&M existence....

Yes, I'm surreptitious.
Not at all.

I believe in evil spirits but not in lucky charms and such that have the ability to ward them off .
funkyderek,
Hmmm. I believe in causality.
Me too, but I also believe in ... let's call it correlation, because "coincidence" just doesn't sound quite right. For me, a personal correlation is: black candle + lighted match = unemployment. It's happened to me before.
I don't believe that the material world is all that exists. Well, most of the time I don't, except when advocates for the spiritual world get too extreme
I believe that superstition can be a healing art, if you use it to allay and control fear rather than allow it to generate new fears.
More later, perhaps.

As a witness I was afraid of the demons
holy god, so was i...and i mean terrified... i knew another witness kid the same age as me who swore a demon crawled into bed with her and bit her on the back, this was when we were maybe eight or nine, i think, and i couldnt sleep for weeks! and i remember one time, in my room in our old house there was a door that faced the hallywa, and down the hallway was the computer room, and one night in the hallway i saw flashing red and green light and for like FOUR HOURS i thought it was an angel and a demon battling for entrance to my room, i was absolutely petrified......then when i finally got the courage to scream for mom, she got my silly ass out of bed and made me realize that it was just a reflection of the screen saver on our computer (remember those old ones with the shapes bouncing around the screen?)...
all that to say i used to be horribly superstitious, but not any more...:)
Thanks for the warm welcome Ozzie. I look forward to my journey here with all of you
I am not superstitious at all. Events can be explained logically. Some things are coincidental, but that's about as "supernatural" as they get.
I don't believe in luck, karma, astrology, psychics, demons, voodoo, etc.
But I'm open minded... prove me wrong.
