Let's be honest, when we were in the majority of us couldn't explain 1914 in our own words. It took a Watchtower magazine and a bible and flipping back and forth between scriptures - try doing that with someone on the door, they'd close the door in your face.
I tried many times to research it and understand it but just gave up in the end. I reasoned that "it must be true otherwise 8 million people wouldn't go along with it".
Well clearly I was wrong because that's precisely whats happening.
IT takes courage and some common sense to get out of the cult. JWs are brainwashed to supress those.
Why people wont leave, no matter what happens. Its all in one word. FEAR.

Personally, I wouldn’t harp on 1914 if I were talking to a JW. The idiots might not know what I was talking about🙄. There are more interesting points to get them on, IMO.
If they have selective memory loss about the 1975 fiasco...something like 1914 predictions that were made many decades earlier wouldn’t both this crazy bunch today in the least.

Well over 80% of JWs couldn't explain 1914 and simply don't care about 1914.
If the "1914 teaching" were dropped, those 80+% would merely shrug their shoulders and say "Huh. New light. Whatever. Hey, what time does the Packers game start?"
The rest, the nut-job true believers, would pass out from the orgasmic delight of having more "new light" that they could analyze for 80 or 100 or 500 pages on JWTalk.
In the 21st century, doctrine simply does not matter to the vast majority of JWs. They get to feel like they are part of something "bigger than themselves", and they look forward to petting pandas and seeing dead grandma again, and that's all that matters.
JW doctrine has become a commodity. 1914, no 1914, one generation, overlapping generations - doesn't matter. It's like going to the grocery store, seeing that they are sold out of grapefruits, and deciding "well, I guess I'll just buy oranges instead."

If the WTS GB leaders dropped 1914 and presented a probable excuse or reason to, just about all JWS would accept it., Why ?

These leaders also thought what they surmised could also be useful in proliferating literature even though their doctrines didn't really have strong biblical support and was actually opposition to Jesus's instructions of preaching his New Kingdom.
