Watchtower will probably come out ahead on this one, with having free lawyers and all. They sure can use the money right now to help pay off some child molestation claims.

Sony BMG: the company that embedded copyright protection on CD's as a rootkit which installed without permission. The same company that produces permanently region-locked DVD players
-- Couldn't have happened to a more deserving company

People had all kinds of wild theories about this, that Watchtower was even building their new media center to create works and become licensing billionaires. It couldn't have been the company that screwed up. I'm sure people that buy into those theories won't be swayed by this either because people believe what they want to believe but it wouldn't be like the JWs to license a song and risk the sweet finances of free donations to get a few bucks on some sort of license deal on something like this.

I remember sometime back in the '90s there were some really nice recordings of the then-current Kingdom songs circulating, some in English, others in German if I remember right. They cracked down on that pretty quick, which I thought was a shame.
On another note, I seem to remember a couple of the Kingdom songs being recorded by some of the music professionals who were witnesses. I think George Benson recorded one. Maybe someone can recall which song it was.

Thanks for posting this.. We all knew this was bound to happen but somehow I did not think that they would have used it without permission. ..but they did....Ho ho ho!

I have to say that is a beautiful rendition, better than the official version.

I think this move by JW Org may well be another case of shooting themselves in the foot. Most of the general public know next to nothing about J.W's and their wacky beliefs, a few know about Blood Transfusions, some do know more detail, but the majority I think probably are not aware that they do not celebrate Christmas and Birthdays.
My son was taking the piss out of his girlfriend a while ago, saying " You are the kind of sucker that would fall for the J.W nonsense", she has a fascination about weirdo Cults, she then asked him more about the beliefs, and with a laugh replied, " Well they won't catch me then, I love Christmas and Birthdays too much!"
I wonder how many more of the public share her views ? she is not religious in any way, never has been, but Chrissy and birthdays are important to her and to her family.
I agree with the above that the Aled Jones version of the Song is a lot better than the original !
