Is st Louis a county? Where i live there are 2 cities with a seamy border area, the cops cooperate. The stats are computed separately. Kansas city is listed twice, i bet the murders cross the river easily
I notice chicago needs to step it up.

The City of St Louis is its own "county".
There is also St Louis COUNTY. It is the "suburbs" surrounding StL CITY.
Sometime around the 1904 Worlds Fair, the high class folks in the City of St Louis seceded from the County. They did not want to pick up the costs for the redneck country folks in the outlying rural County. Fast forward 100 years and that redneck country territory is the high rent suburbs and the City is the Ghetto (with a few very classy and a few moderate neighborhoods).
Usually crime statistics given for St Louis only include the actual City of StL which makes the numbers usually seem very "high crime" because most large cities include their surrounding (safer) suburbs vs just the "inner city".

Chicago is so low because the city is huge. If it was separated out by neighborhood Chicago would have top 5 spots.
East St. Louis is a fucking shithole

East St Louis is a sad story. In the 40s & 50s it was run by the Buster Wortman mob. The area (St Clair and Madison Counties) had the revenue and political influence equal to Cook County/Chicago. The National Stockyards and the resulting banks there, were the cash cows. During the race riots of the 60s, E St Louis was "burned to the ground". The "Big Money" left town and never rebuilt. Then anyone with even a little money, got the hell outta there (white flight). The rioters "won". They took over East St Louis. 50 years later, it's still a (to quote silentbuddha) fucking shithole.
Fast forward to 2020 -- I fear history is repeating itself in Baltimore, Seattle, Minneapolis, etc. Ferguson was surely a "repeat". Nothing has been rebuilt there since its burning in 2006.
BTW -- East St Louis has been a strong Democrat stronghold since the 60's.
The City of St Louis has TWO political parties: White Democrats and Black Democrats.

I hadn't thought of it that way, Fink.
You're right. It's probably just coincidence that cities run by Democrats are (almost without exception) shitholes.
What are the "other pertaining factors" of which you speak?

Mr.Finkelstein
And you have positive proof that all cities govern by Republican mayors are not shit holes ?
Your expressing nonsensical bullshit for whatever reason but to yourself.
