Probably the result of some focus group or someone not being bothered to come up with something else or a writer just using the name of someone they know. It's maybe biblical but modern sounding - like something out of Mission Impossible.
Well, it used to be Andre. The smart money should be on the next name being something with and I :-).
When in doubt, go "old school Israelite," go to the Hebrew language.
Ethan means "solid, enduring" in Hebrew.
Good catch. Was the character portrayed 'bad' or 'good'? If a mix, probably just a name someone on the writing team likes.
The 2014 one was a mix, the teen who was pursuing a music career but eventually came around. 2012 was the wise Jerusalem elder who foreshadowed the GB, and 2016 was the father with reeeely bad luck at this year's RC. I guess we'll see the next one in 2018, unless there's a new pet name by then.
It's a popular name right now for teenage boys, at least around here.
When I substitute in middle school, every other kid is named Ethan, and the other half is Connor.
How interesting. The young, highly articulate and wise beyond his years, with fantastic self control and author of his you tube, extensive apostasy hearing videos in 2012, is named Ethan.

The apostate network.
For anyone who missed these, it is a treat to watch this young turk own the elders in these videos. and his follow ups, are quite entertaining.
Hmmm. In my area Nicholas has been enormous for the past two decades, but I've never met a single Ethan of any age in my entire life. Guess it all comes down to area.
No Ethans here, either. I did run into a little Annikin a couple years ago.
