Be on your way, be well fed warm live comfortably........

The GB lives in a 5 star resort, have access to healthcare, housekeeping, green handshakes (non taxable), transportation, vacations and the adulation and control of over 8 million brainwashed cult followers. Yet they use guilt and fear to keep their members from enjoying life. Krismalone you have it in one.

I wouldn't put anything in that collection, and if I got hounded, I would tell them that I will not do anything at all because they hounded me (on the pledge, I would put a big fat zero and the note that I will not do it now because of the hounding). If I have money to waste on some lazy lousy rotten stupid good for nothing bum that wants me poor too, I have money to spend on more silver.

And, if jesus krayst blesses those who are poor, that is one more reason to not worship that fictitious scumbag. Why do I want to program my soul to be poor forever? Better to be rich through my own work than to be poor because some scumbag declares it a virtue.

what scripure was it said.. "if a man does not work, let him not eat" or some such..

he wants to be like the widow.. great example.

in context, it seems jesus was using the widow as an example of how the religious leaders were devouring the houses of widows. look at mark 12 and the parallel accounts to see this. he never said anything positive about the widow giving more than the others, no commendation only observation.

Why don`t the congregations have a special fund to help the needy ,in their midst ? The body of Elders should be able to determine who has a legitimate case of need.?

No, every dime/penny has to go to HQ.to keep the GB members in the luxury they have become accustomed to.

smiddy, that would mean less funds for travelling around the world and such. less caviar too?

so much for that "warm christian love" the mention at the end of the letters, more like those "best wishes" the say sometimes

1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

When we hit hard times and were living on cheap soup, we were told we needed to put our trust in Jehovah and he would provide. No one helped us - ever. There were other people like us, too. One sister had 5 kids and an empty fridge - always. No one ever helped her.

But when an elder's wife started suffering from depression, her brother, who was also an elder, said 'I know what she needs to cheer her up - a horse!' And, I kid you not, there was a collection and they bought her one!

Phoebe, I also knew a depressed elder's wife in a similar situation. Her therapist told her to do things she REALLY liked (o the irony) as part of her therapy and she decided that it would be...oh yesss... horse-ride le$$ons on a weekly basis! She had no paid job so her full-time working elder husband paid for it and she quickly applied her given medical advice to only visit meetings if she felt she could handle it. Don't know if he ever bought that horse for her, but we all know how expensive lessons and horse related things are and in fact unreachable for the poor in the cong.

Not condemning depression or horse-lessons in any way, but isn't it impressive to see how the holy spirit can work through a body of elders? The key lies in Hebrews 13:7. The rank and file just need to "imitate their faith" and work a bit harder and who knows,,,maybe they will receive such wonderful blessings as well?

Cliques and money...and the poor waiting for Jehovah. The rabbit hole is deep in JW la la land.

I was in a very poor congregation and horses are not cheap, but everyone was pressurized to contribute. As someone who has suffered from depression myself, I felt for the poor lady but to me, it wasn't right pressurizing people to help pay for it. It never did anything to help her depression, either, and in fact, some years later people were actually asked to contribute towards a second horse for her as she wanted to sell the first and get a better horse That's when a lot of people drew the line.

I think it's great for people to help those that are in need, but it has to be for everyone not just 'elder's and their wives'
