Takes advantage of every opportunity to express her utter contempt for all things Catholic. Whether the paragraph or question has anything to do with Catholicism or not.
john.prestor, I actually have that book.... it was given to me by a sister! She thought it applied to her relatives in Nazi Germany. She never saw the bigger picture of how that could apply within the "organization".
Your observations are spot on. So many JWs are brimming with repressed hatred for anything "worldly" they can barely function.
I'm glad to hear my conclusions resonate with the experience of other posters. I find that encouraging.
I suspect also that this anger and animosity may, may come from the unacknowledged shame of field service. Does this sound accurate to anyone? Did you find field service shameful?
I found being a JW a shameful experience on many levels. Shame in the congregation shame from the "world" and shame will often translate into rage or passive aggression.
There are teeth behind every JW fake smile, for sure.

Yes, I did notice that some Witnesses were hateful and had a sour grapes attitude towards non-JWs (and even JWs) who had college/career.
I considered it to be a combination of jealousy and ‘misery loves company’.
The repression, anger and anxiety seems to be coming to a head. All the ramped-up security measures at conventions with these siege like mentality videos. I really do wonder before a lot of the Dubs 'break' both mentally and physically. Nervous break downs.
Spiral: that's great! I've found it fascinating for understanding my own childhood. I hope that Sister came to see it applied to her own religion too, not just the national religion of Nazi Germany (to which it certainly applies).
john.prestor, no sadly, she could see the effect on her relatives (parents and grandparents) BUT she never could see how it applied to her current life. She started out as being an "independently minded" [and she was!] sister, but as she gets older she's become a very compliant drone. Sad, really. We are still good friends and she is not in good health, so I don't get to discuss things like this with her any more.
john.prestor - makes sense to me - Alice Miller is (was) a world renown psychoanalyst/psychologist and I know I read a paper/something decades ago probably before she started publishing books. Know I bought Drama of the Gifted Child - I think was a number 1 seller. Wish I'd collected all her books - she's unreal and summed up evil toward children.
