Just to add some perspective, many prominent politicians have cults that spring up around them.
Bill Clinton had one, so did Hillary Clinton, so did Barack Obama, so did Tony Blair.
Dr David Kelly fell foul of the Cult of Blair ... he ended up losing his life.
Today we have cults around Donald Trump and Jeremy Corbyn.

Jeezus, after the post-1975 exodus and the Bethel purge in the early 1980s, a couple of the top guys were even kicking around the idea of an actual "loyalty oath".

I see the similarity. A friend of mine continues to shun her brother because she wants to "maintain loyalty" blah blah blah..... same idea. Loyalty above common sense, loyalty above your own ethics.
