The British have a word which describes acquiring information without ever taking any action...it's called wanking.

Ex, may I speak directly? Please accept these words in the spirit in which they are intended - or skip right over them, that's OK too...and please recognize I am talking to any reader and to myself as well.

You don't know how long you have left on this planet - none of us do. How do you want to spend it? You don't sound happy now...my guess is you're settling for scraps of happiness here and there, but by and large, you sound like you are gnawing on a dry bone. Leaving the Witnesses completely requires a transition period emotionally, and it also requires you to essentially ask those who say they love you to make a conscious choice whether they really do love you or not. It's a scary thing! The good news is, if they shun you, it's not about you! It's about their fear - it doesn't make you less, it doesn't mean you're not loveable, it doesn't make you evil or wrong or bad.

If it's going to take you N number of days to transition from where you are now, to being happy, when do you want to start?

Getting advice from those on this board about how might be useful...but not until you decide what you want to do. So...what do you want to do now?

I am fighting a battle which sometimes seems impossible....make the blind see!

I broke down one night because I realized if my wife does not see the truth for what it is no matter what I do or how loving I am she'll raise our little girl to believe I'm bad. That I deserted god and them by not looking after their spiritual needs which of course are clearly defined by the WTBTS.

But I can't live out the remainder of my life promoting a lie.

I'm really one of the last ones to give you advice, never having been a JW myself, but I do know something about Communications and P.R. For what it's worth, instead of opposing the JW's (negative), how about doing something "neutral", where you don't come off looking bad and it could create an atmosphere of planting the right seeds that you need.

What if you were to do some 'research' on JWs early history, when they were known as 'bible students' (positive).... slowly take it from there. Here is an interesting website by some bible students today:

Your 'interest' in the JWs of old is to see how they evolved. After you read the article, you could ask yourself the question (wink, wink)... "What if today's Bible Students that trace their roots to Charles Russell are in fact the genuine group, and the JWs are the counterfeit?" That would be a legitiment question (neutral) showing you want to make sure you have the 'truth'...(wink, wink) .... I would think your search for 'the truth' would be something positive and could raise very definite flags of doubt in your wife's mind.

Just my 2 cents....(just trying to help.... good luck)

Easy there big fella - no offense intended. If my attempt at humor came across as ill-willed, I sincerely apologize.

I simply meant that information does not create action - intention does. We both know that action can be taken without information. Of course, you're a lot more likely to take "right action" with proper knowledge. Beyond a certain point, though, sometimes we just have to move.

My point is simply that I know Witnesses that have all the info available here, and their fears have still prevented them from taking the next step. We probably both know witnesses who admit in private conversation that they know in their gut that the WTS is dysfunctional, but haven't done anything because of the kids or the parents or the wife.

I work with engineers all the time who want to collect data and avoid decisions, because decisions involve risk and data-collection "feels" safer to them. I'm sure that you would agree that taking the action is the important thing, and something we would both encourage.
