I thought it mean "Oh, puh-lease!"
Sorry - joke.
Yeah it means Opening Post - so you may get comments saying the thread has strayed from the OP.
The OP is the Opening Post or Original Post in a thread.
The person who originates the thread makes comments or asks questions to which he or she expects responses from others on the forum.
Sometimes the later comments go off on various tangents
If you are responding to the OP rather than to the latest comments, it sometimes helps to say, "The OP raised the question..." or "The OP made the point that..." in order to make clear what your own comments are responding to.
Now all our secrets are revealed.
The cat is out of the bag.
Wait, who put the cat in the bag?
Who's cat is it?
I guess there are still secrets that I don't know the answer to.
Be aware that you should on no account read an OP until after you have posted a response.
Feel free to pick up on a single word from the title of the thread - don't worry about context or intent - or any trivial remark that has been made by anybody since the OP and use that as a tenuous link to indulge in a rant.
If anybody dares to disagree with you be sure to tell them they are behaving just like a JW.
Hope these tips are useful to newbies.
What does OP. Mean
It`s supposed to mean "Opening Post"..
For some its an "Opportunity to Preach"..

@Simon,
Probably it's Schrodinger's cat...but I always wondered why it jumped out of Pandora's box :-p
