Many JWs are so blinded and brain washed they don't use or in a very limited way use the internet. Take a look at social media. I bet no more than 1/3rd of most congregations use it or the internet for more than a place to buy something off of Amazon.

I heard from a good source that the meeting right after the video got out, he found himself in the back room.
Brothers in his congregation estimate he was in there about 10 minutes and when he came out he looked relieved.
He was in there stashing the whiskey among Rutherford's books

I don't think that would generate and Elders Meeting or inquiry if it were any other R&F JW. There simply is not anything "wrong" with buying a case of booze. If it "got around" (as this did) a person might be advise to use greater discretion, and Tony might have even gotten that "bug in the ear" from one of his cohorts. (geezus, Tone, what were you thinking? You know we're being watched like hawks by the "mentally diseased" apostate nation!)
I actually think it's a bigger deal that it was expensive, top shelf scotch. These men expect all JW's to be "modest" in their (spending) habits and give give give to the Borg. Why was he pissing away $1000 on booze? On the other hand, likely with his former secular employment, military service, or even Social Security (if he's old enough), he has his own personal income for such personal expenses. WTF should anyone care how he spends it?
The GB has done more egregious things that this and shrugged it off without consequences.

.............." Anthony we must remember there is such things as smart phones and YouTube now both instruments that Satan might use to demean Jah's spirit directed chosen ones and possibly stumble the flock " .
" So maybe from now on it might be better to use more discretion and perhaps only buy one bottle of liquor and just check around to see if anyone has their cell phone pointing at you. "
" I think we should end this meeting by saying prayer and hopefully put this Whiskey Gate scenario to an end. "

I think the point is that if you and I as an ordinary R&F member had been subject to an incident like this, then I guarantee some elder, if not a couple, would have had a quiet word with us. Anything that could be construed as not looking good is usually jumped on from a great height by some self-righteous elder(s).
How many of us here have had 'counsel' for much less demeaning things?

Although we make a big issue of this, they will not. They will make every justification you can think of and his reputation will remain untarnished. If a JW were to even acknowledge that they were aware of this clip, elders would begin to investigate the publisher’s internet habits and discipline might follow depending on position held.

It all depends where you do certain things like this, he shouldn't have done it of course, and maybe any other publisher neither. I remember my uncle who died and was a long term elder (ex CO), did well in business and had a wine cellar. Sometimes I used to go with him to wine-importers and would came back with maybe 100-150 bottles of wine ...but that is here in Europe.

When Tony "Tighpants" was asked why he was purchasing so much whiskey, his answer was priceless.
He said, " Have you ever had to sit in on a meeting with 7-8 other GB members and listen to the things they say? It makes much more sense when intoxicated!"
I'm sure he's right!
just saying!
