    Hey guys,

For the past few years, I've struggled tremendously with depression and an overall sense of low self worth.

I've been a fan of Anthony Robbins (self help guru) and read a couple of his books, but I strongly recomend the tapes "Lessons in Mastery." I just got it today.

    It is brilliant!

He really teaches you to love and respect yourself.

    SOOOO different from the borg.

In the borg, we were constantly told how were weren't doing enough. That we weren't worthy.

How different from Jesus teaching that even our hairs are numbered.

How different it is when we can be motivate from the inside for our own well being - rather than using guilt motivations.

    Tony's cool.

Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love, is also very cool.

And check out PSI Seminar's Basic class (over a weekend) if you're on the West Coast.

I can get into the motivational speaker thing -- as silly as they sound sometimes, they work!

Never listened to Anthony Robbins, though. I've seen his picture -- is it just me or does the guy just look fake? That's nothing against his psychology, just a petty little observation.

    Bradley,

    Yes, he does look fake.

And quite frankly, before I read one of his books, I was like - this guy is a kook!

But he's not. He used to be REALLY FAT and decided to change his life.

Maybe that's why he looks fake !

I'll have to check him out. If you like looking into the psychology of motivation check out some of the works of Albert Ellis. He's not a motivational speaker, per se, but I simply feel his style of psychology is bar none the best there is. Good stuff.

Of course the WTS would not want anyone to participate in doing better for oneself, including listening to motivational speakers.

There is so much stinkin negative thinking and attitudes out there, it is refreshing to hear something different. Who am I to stop someone who wants to be encouraged and lifted up?

If it makes you feel better, then go for it!

I liked Anthony Robbins. I read:

    Unlimited Power

    Awaken the Giant Within

Twice...I awoke to the fact that I didn't want to be married to my alcoholic cheating husband anymore...we were on different paths. I awoke to the fact that the dub beliefs were not working for me any more....I reached my "pain threshhold".....as Tony calls it...That motivated me to leave... on both counts..the marriage and the religion.

That and a hundred years of therapy.

Never read anything by Tony Robbins although there is a lot of self help books available on this subject. I found reading Wayne Dyers books helped my self esteme.
