YES!
The "truth" is an experience, and the "beliefs" are designed to get you to behave as a member of the experience. Doesn't really matter what the beliefs are, which is why, when pressed, lots of JWs just throw up their hands and say they don't care.
"Just come back and act like one of us, it's uncomfortable when nice people leave for no apparent reason, and you don't want us to feel uncomfortable about our faith do you?"
When I had a discussion with my father-in-law about the reasons for my inactivity he referred to me several times as "computer brained" because I'm logical and have a good memory. He said I was in the same category as someone else he knew that was "computer brained" and had left the cult. Over the course of the conversation he remembered 3 other (4 total) people that he would put in the same category and all had left the cult. You'd think that would tell him something.
If someone told me not to overthink the truth, I would respond by saying I'd just stopped underthinking life.
Be well, and... Relax.

How many times was I told "you think too much" by "friends" trying to get me to come back.
I mean...really??? Thinking about life, death, what to believe...we shouldn't think too much about it? I didn't have a comeback then.
I think now I'd say "you say that like it's a bad thing."
oh, just don't overthink the truth!
What he really meant was: "just don't over think the truth!"
There. I fixed it for you.
Doc
The concept of overthinking is an interesting one. I think its just loaded language in JW world for, "dont think ypu know better than the slave".
Many people, many good people, stay JWs because they purposely decide to ignore the thibs they do not agree with, and feel its "closest", to the truth......whatever that means.
It's not always comfortable being a thinker. It's easier to follow the crowd but as we all know seven million people can be wrong. Trusting yourself and the knowledge you've gained through doing some deep thinking will set you up for life but it doesn't always make you popular.
I remember a "sister" (ugh!) giving me similar advice during my turbulent doubting phase.
She said "your problem is your too intelligent, stop thinking so much, not everything has to make sense you know."
Jesus did say that "the truth" would set us free.
I think he meant the TTATT not the witness truth.
Yeah, it's actually a sight to see and witness when you run into friends and smack them with the truth and they'll just look at you dumbfounded and upset that they now know the truth. Hahaha
