Has 1919 been abandoned? Is the sky falling?

I copied the following two items from JW dot ORGs site entitled “DATES OF PROPHETIC SIGNIFICANCE” at site below:

    http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200271564

    1. once held to be year when ‘true Lord and messenger of the covenant’ came to spiritual temple (Mal 3:1): w10 3/15 23; w07 4/1 22; w07 12/15 27-28; jd 179-182; re 31-32, 55-56; w92 12/1 13; w89 4/15 7; w89 7/1 30; w87 6/15 14-15

    2. 1918-1919, once held to be period of anointed’s captivity to Babylon the Great: w16.11 22-23, 27-29

Number 1 doesn’t give a date but references publications back to 1987. It seems these pubs give 1918 as the “once held” year. Number 2 is explicit, that 1918-1919 have been abandoned.

My question: If they abandoned 1918 and 1919 (once held) have they replaced them with other dates or are they going to leave us in limbo?

I mean – What are we going to do without knowing?

    1919 is the new 1914.

1919, per "current truth", is when Jesus appointed the "faithful and discreet slave".

1919 is never going away, or at least "never" until the current GB dies off and the next wave has to figure out some sort of coherence out of the mess left behind.

Has 1919 been abandoned? Is the sky falling?

No the sky is not falling. It just a small puffy cloud evaporating into nothingness.

Its seems now the WTS is trying to nullify the supposed significance of that date of what J Rutherford self proclaimed himself in 1919. You know that drunk adulterer who drove around in Cadillacs and lived in a palatial mansion with his mistress, waiting for the ancient worthies to return.

The WTS is trying now as it has in many times to get rid of old irrelevant problematic doctrines as an intent to validate their self proposed image of being god's chosen ones (True worshipers) here on earth.

I'm still holding to the suggestion that in the future they will wash away 1914 as well.

In a recent book study we considered in the "Gods Kingdom Rules" book...

7 Shortly after he was installed as King, Jesus took steps to prepare his followers for the vast work to be done. As we saw in Chapter 2, he did an inspection and a cleansing work from 1914 to early 1919. (Mal. 3:1-4) Then, in 1919, he appointed the faithful slave to take the lead among his followers. (Matt. 24:45) Especially from that time onward, that slave began dispensing spiritual food—by means of convention discourses and printed publications—that repeatedly emphasized the responsibility of all Christians to have a personal share in preaching.

So is it dead or not?

    What sir82 said.

1919 is still the most important Watchtower date, supposedly when Jesus appointed a small group of "anointed" at HQ the "faithful slave" as the only channel God is using to serve spiritual food at the proper time.

The "Kingdom Rules" paragraph there doesn't contradict any "new light" about the "captivity" to "Babylon the Great".

I just did a search for "1919" in my Watchtower Lib and it returned 2425 instances. That is, in all publications since 1950, the Watchtower repeatedly told us how important that date is (or was).

To me, that doesn't say a lot about their credibility -- or does it?

Please, Watchtower, don't abandon 1914 just yet. We need more time to digest this wonderful food at the proper time.

In 1995 they completely changed the significance of "this generation" and hardly anyone at the KH noticed or cared.

    No, the sky isn't falling.
