The starting event of the Watchtower's "70 Years"?

    Likely it's made up and no one can find the answer to it. Who even knows the calender used to calculate such timelines. I don't think Russell or Rutherford et al sat down with a couple rabbis to get a clearer view of Jewish historical events, calendars in use, and dating.

    I'll have to check out Russells writings to see if he may specifically allude to the calculation. Ugh! It's like reading the ramblings of a 6 personality schizophrenic.

    You'll probably have to read some of Nelson Barbour's (Millerite) writings as he was Russell's friend and contemporary that did most of the time calculations. They later split because of the "invisible presence" thingy.

    From what I've noted, Barbour and Miller liked to start their calculations from 539.

    OK, I see. I think we're on the same page now.

    It is my understanding that the WTS starts its "70 Years" [of desolations] at the same moment that it starts its "2,520 Years" [of Gentile Rule].

    That is my understanding, too.
