I'd recommend the films of Michael Haneke, Wong Kar Wai, Krzysztof Kieślowski and the earlier films of Zhang Yimou.

Amazon video is a decent place to rent a lot of these, and if you have Amazon Prime some movies are free. I've been renting all the Harry Potter movies and watching them when I have the house to myself. Finished up to the Half-Blood Prince.
