The Borg also changed the words in the bible from "birth pags " to "pangs of distress" . This was done because birth pangs come first not after and the Borg of course says Jesus took his throne first then the tribulation. But the bible clearly shows it to be the other way around tribulation the the coming of Jesus.

@ prologos - I agree with your reasoning concerning other "great tribulations."

What J.W.'s totally dismiss when they accept the Org's (future) explanation of Jesus' words at Matthew 24, is that Jesus was referring to the worst tribulation ever to hit his audience's nation (God's people) up until that time - and that it would never occur again.

If he was simply referring to catastrophic events in general, his listeners (and JW.'s!) should have included the flood of Noah's day, which was scripturally the worst event ever.

Very good thread. Although I feel mentally free it is good to reinforce how some of the main pillars of borg teaching are on foundations of sand.

TS: "Jesus was referring to the worst tribulation ever to hit his audience's nation (God's people) up until that time -

I would guess that his audience could consider themselves of the family, nation rooted in Noah, Shem--. , so seen in this way we all are offspring of Noah, the big bang even, how ironic of jesus' endorsing the flood myth., makes armageddon just as credible. As you greatly pointed out, taken locally or globally, the wt's GT teaching is not a GT (great teaching).
