They have nowhere else to go!

I think the overwhelming problem with trying to wake up friends and family is they have nowhere else to go. I mean these people all their friends are JWs a lot of them their family is JWs. If they wake up or agree with you in anyway they know instantly that they loose all this, many will even loose jobs.

I think there is a lot of mentally out JWs that go to meeting and service but are really just going through the motions knowing they have no other options.

Proof of this maybe one of the last meetings I went to. I was returning to my seat during a watchtower study and got a good look at how many people didn’t have their watchtowers marked it was almost every one of them. could be only about 10% are truly believers and the rest are in some way not awake but just indifferent knowing they have no other options?

I do know what you mean and sure do hope more people are indeed awake, but for me as a PIMO, I find it almost impossible to give a comment in the meeting, gushing with love for Jehovah and the G.B's instructions. If lots of meeting-goers are awake in reality and just go because they don't have any other options, they are very good at acting, vomiting out very righteous comments indeed at the meetings.

Isambard Crater, I agree. I was always genuine, so when I woke up, I could no longer give the "gushing" comments or even give talks with the same feeling that I used to.

Crazyguy, I don't really think there are a lot of "mentally out JWs". I think a lot of them are just in zombie or drone mode. They subconsciously know something's wrong - that "this system" was supposed to be long gone, that JWdom ain't what it used to be, that the "generation" teaching doesn't make sense, etc. - but, they just don't have the intellect and/or fortitude necessary to wake completely up. Maybe the notion that there's nowhere else to go does come into play. They sense something is wrong where they are, but don't know of anywhere else better to go.

what gets me is that JWs are known (known by JWs) to be soo in love with truth and serving god without blemish and yet so often when they realize the truth about the bORG, they dont just jump ship immediately for the sake of truth and serving god (not usually anyway)

Im not even referring to those on rescue missions or trying to keep family together, I mean your average JW doesnt care about truth or serving god w/o blemish, only about the org.

Many years ago, JW's were confident that they had more knowledge about the Bible than the average Joe Bloggs they were calling on.

Now the shoe is on the other foot - Joe Bloggs knows a helluva lot more about the skeletons in the WTBTS's cupboard than the average JW does, and it's demoralising the r&f - because Joe Bloggs can humiliate them with his info. They are dragging themselves to the field service - they don't march confidently any more.

What the Fall Guy says is true.

And this is why if they have to deal with someone who is concerned or is awakening and who is in anyway vocal about the skeletons in WTBTS's closet they run scared.

Then the unrest gets to the elders who quickly consult the CO or HQ who will "guide" them in methods to bring the "concerned" jw back in line.

If that doesn't work they will manipulate scriptures to boot them out.

Any "Naboth" clinging to scriptural principles in the face of WT lies will be stoned (AKA DF'd and ostracized) and the R&F know it.

Crazy guy, you are absolutely right IN SOME CASES. I was a born in, and it took me a little longer to figure out what would be a safe next step for me to take.

As I have shared many times, the WT not only teaches people how they should behave and be, and what decisions to take, and what/how to think, and not to trust their "independent way of thinking". Part of their brainwashing includes make them believe that if they leave, there's absolutely no other place to be, no people you can trust, and what awaits us is a horrible fate.

Some believe that crap, some find proof of it by perception, and some, like me, see through the nonsense and venture life on their own.

back when i was in--i genuinely believe most of the married male dubs ( except the servants ) were in it just to keep the peace at home. i dont think i knew of any male dubs whose wife was " opposed"

The Fall Guy - . SO TRUE!!! It really is different now.

The org knows what you said is true, and that, I believe, is why (or at least a major reason why) it has changed strategy. It no longer emphasizes doctrine and prophecy the way it used to. It knows it has lost and is puny on the doctrinal/theological front and that it can't stand up to attacks and criticism. It has now become more like the churches it used to denigrate. It now emphasizes lifestyle and obedience to the org. It is now shiny and glittery and shallow.

Yep, a lot are stuck going through the motions, keeping up appearances because the alternative is too scary.
