I am still in and was assigned to collect the contribution after the meeting. I checked the boxes with another Brother and there was nothing inside. No contributions were made that day. The Secretary is supposed to receive a copy of the silp of paper made to record the contributions collected. The Secretary approached me and asked if I collected the money and to give him his copy of the slip. I told him that I had checked and there was no money contributed at the end of this meeting, therefore nothing to give him (I found out later that the slip is to be filled out anyway with zeros being indicated). When the Secretary heard this he said, "those cheapskates". I got the impression that he wasn't joking.

HAH!! Sounds like priorities are changing...
Maybe the Secretary didn't make his contribution until he sees if the congregation gave enough - because maybe he has to make up the shortfall out of his own pocket, or get the other elders to cough up along with him.
