I was reading through the new kids book released at the assembly, and couldn't help but notice the chapter on birthdays. It went on to explain that people were beheaded at birthdays, and that god never said to celebrate them. It then quoted the catholic encyclopedia as stating
"Only sinners... make great rejoicings over the day on which they were born"
So I looked in the catholic encyclopedia and it sure said that, kinda.
"of all the holy people in the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his birthday. It is only sinners (like Pharaoh and Herod
who make great rejoicings over the day on which they were born into this world below"
The point being that the only two recorded birthdays in the bible were those of sinners, not that only sinners celebrate birthdays.
