While it is true that the org could tell them that they needed to sell or not, they local body had a lot of input as to what they wanted to do.

While true in theory, most body's would do whatever the org told them to do, without question.

One congregation I attended, although the RBC dictated that a new KH was to be built, many in the cong were openly against building a new one when the existing building wasn't overly old and could be updated at far less cost. This was a cong which frequently had difficulty paying the monthly utility expenses, never mind a large WT mortgage.

While there was a vote with a small majority favouring renovating the existing, the elders wouldn't pay heed but instead stated that as the RBC said a new one was to be built, that was how the matter was to proceed. Virtually all of those elders moved away to other areas soon after construction so they didn't contribute for long financially, if at all.

I know in my parent's congregation, they were asked to donate their KH to another congregation rather than put it up for sale. This would have meant that they would owe around $1 million dollars more on their new KH (it was located in a high value area). My dad was livid as he had been in this KH for around 20 years and he wasn't sure the congregations in the new KH could afford the additional monthly payment. Eventually they listened to the body and they put the KH up for sale.

It might be crazy what I'm about to say

Clap along if you feel like the local JW deserve it

    Because I'm happy

That they think the GB are god and do everything they say even if it doesn't make sense.

Clap along if you feel that a local JW should donate more to the fools

Because I'm happy that they are so stupid.

    Will they ever learn ahahahah.

"Kingdom Halls will continue to be built or renovated in proportion to whatever the brothers are able to contribute for this purpose."

I think this is an intentionally vague phrase. It can be assumed by a loyalist that the plan remains the same. Others would ask what happened to all the money in the money grab? Does that figure into the peoportion referenced? The cynic wonders if congregations will now be awarded new hall's if they are very generous(you know how some hopeful idiots keep buying more magazine's thinking they will be more likely to win publishers clearinghouse sweepstakes?)

Any fading elders want to call for clarification?

It should come as no surprise that the LDC video has been removed from the jw.org website. It was called "Designing Future Kingdom Halls".

    LDC? What LDC?

It's sad and yet I'm amazed that the average JW cannot see that there is a huge money grabbing scheme going on here.

No worries. They won't get a dime from me, not even the local congregation fund. The most I might give them is couple bucks to feed the visiting speaker.

tim310rd commented to me on page 3.

I had clearly said "Watchtower started assuming the title to properties upon loaning money to congregations or upon approving a remodeling of the properties."

The key word for your comment would be "started." Yes, I still condensed this less than Cofty, but more needs to be said than I left room for. The main point was that they took away even the building title itself. I doubt that Kingdom Hall that used to not belong to Watchtower still is a hold-out.

Even if it is, they dissolve and create congregations, they remove elders. They write a bad report that your building needs remodeling under the "Seize the title" program they run. Now they seize the money that any individual congregation saved and they better not have a hidden account to pay for remodeling the Hall- just wait a decade or so and LDC (or whatever) will get around to you.

So what's going to happen when the carpets and chairs get old now?
