The COBE of the cong we attended called me and left a vm, and also emailed both me and my husband. This all happened yesterday. He said he was checking in to see how our family was doing, which is a joke. If that is true, I wonder why did it take him 4 months to be so interested. Since we stopped attending, this is the first time he has attempted to contact us. Hmmmm....My guess is the CO will be visiting and he's trying to look good for his report to him or whatever it is they do.

Yup - Area Manager is about to descend and examine the business! -

You hit the nail on the head. The CO is an enforcer to the local elders. On the Thursday evening I believe it is of the visit they have this big meeting with all the elders and MS's and they go through each and every one of the rank and file of that congregation. The CO's asks about certain ones and certain elders answer up on everyone that they have in fact been contacted. -

They fall over themselves sucking up to the CO. Nobody wants to be the one to admit they haven't bothered to check on you for over four months, so they're scrambling. They could get raked over the coals pretty good. Now onto important business: who will jockey for position and impress the CO first with dining at an expensive restaurant? Sad but true. I grew up hearing it all. -

Its a fear/control based cult that functions like a machine (a business). The board of directors want results.............. -

CO's are feared and awe-inspired. Enforcers, so to speak. Elders/MS's are so worried about keeping their titles, they HAVE to tell the CO that they are checking-up on people. It's gotta be thankless job. -

I have also received messages from an elder, I guess he's the one assigned to "check up" on me. Part of me would like to post them up here, but the other part says better not (just in case) -

I'd just fart in their presence. -

I actually feel sorry for the elder. It is a awkward position to be in to support stupidity, if perhaps the elder is not an idiot. If he is an idiot, then I take away my comment about feeling sorry.
Defending the indefensible is a hard job!
