I have been studying with the JW since June of 2016 and they say only the ones who make up the 144. 000 and can partake of the bread and cup. is this true?

Yes. So amongst the millions who attended the memorial of Christ's death only a handful (approximately 11000) actually eat and drink while others watch. The WT has long professed the number of anointed participants would decrease as we neared the end but the number has grown...you should ask your JW teacher why?

Also bear in mind that JWs once taught that the number of those who have the heavenly calling was sealed in 1935. Who these 'anointed' are, partaking of the emblems, is anybody's guess.

The organization taught that the number would be decreasing as the system drew to a close and the 144,000 were chosen and filled. For decades, the number of partakers was decreasing. However in recent years, the number of the partakers has substantially increased. The number is published each and every year and the organization has no explanation for the increase. Just before the memorial, a talk is given about the anointed, who should be partaking, and the seriousness of the error of partaking for those that are not truly anointed. This is to stem the increasing tide of those that claim this class. Many believe that the org will stop releasing the yearly count of those that claim to be of the heavenly class. That way, the rank and file will not know the true numbers and the org will avoid inventing an explanation... like the overlapping generation fiasco.

Virtually the whole of Revelation is - according to the JW's - "symbolic". And yet the 144,000 of Revelation CH 7 and Ch 14 is supposedly "literal" even though it is made up of 12 x 12,000 from symbolic tribes of Israel.
Without wishing to be disrespectful the opinion of this poster (who was baptised as a JW 40 years ago and who was dumb enough to be an elder for over 20 of those years until I realised it was a croc) is that it is "all bollocks."
I would further encourage you to "run Forrest run" as far away as you can from this self serving little cult.

Teddy, so you have been studying for a month? four sessions? The next Lord's Supper, wt style is 9 month away, the length of a pregnancy. This most important of Christian/ biblical ceremony, wt version, is as far away from right as it can get. so: ask, research: How many anointed is Jesus supposed to have served the wine & bread too?-- zero!!. Is the wine primarily for the kingdom fellow rulers? no, it is for forgiveness of sins, to regain paradise, and the anointed have to reject that hope, sacrifice it in favor of the upward calling,.( like Jesus did);-- so, wt tells them first to accept, then to discard. and for the supposed paradise inheritors: do not even think of claiming the prize by partaking. it would be apostasy!. so, be pregnant with thought, nine month to go to the reject the ransom wt feast.

Teddy your wise to ask questions............now. The Jehovah's Witnesses are under the thumb of their corporation The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. As it didn't start out as a religion it started as a publishing house then grew into a real estate holding company.
The JW religion didn't become an official religion until 1931 or so.
There are other issues associated with the JW's that you should be informed about. Their no blood transfusion policy/belief have cost thousands of men, women and children their lives.
Their disfellowship rules have over 34 ways you can be DF and shunned. Over 2 dozen more then the New Translation of the Bible mentions.
They are waiting for Armageddon to happen which according to their beliefs every one who is not a believing JW will be destroyed. They may soften that a bit and say that others might be allowed to live through this terrible battle.....that it will be up to God.
So either way they may be building their paradise earth on the bones of billions of innocent beings.
Finally like the Catholic Church and other churches they have a pedophile problem............ a serious one because they apply the two witness rule and will not remove the offender if there is not a second witness to the molestation.
Google any of these issues...... make an independent investigation and decide for yourself. You should find non apostate sites especially news reports.
jwfacts.com will speed up the research. But if you stay away from the opinion non JW point of view and just read exactly what the Society has said through their publications you will be able to learn 'the truth about the truth'.

The organization goes into great depth explaining who shouldn't partake yet they can't explain how those who think they are anointed believe this to be so and they tell you it would be rude to ask them.
