We have family members who have been put into a turmoil trying to reconcile such direction from the society!

Some have simply cut us off...while others are trying to work out how to proceed.

I know it is messing with their heads and emotions!

But yes, the simple question is "Why or how can 7 men who don't even know you from a bar of soap have the right to cause a rift between family relatives??!"

    Yes, "It is a cult"

A drifter friend told me once that the dub is 'just a cross section of society' - with the do gooder anal types right through to the more reasoned ones. Perhaps this elderly was just a tad more balanced and good on him.

He may believe what he said. That doesn't stop the bible smacking leaders enforcing their bullshit. The cult has NO right to cut families in half but there it is. It's real and it's disgusting but they claim they are following the example of Christ. WTF, I thought that dude was meant to be all loving and merciful?

Shunning and the judging of good people is disgusting -(and although I am finally free of the years of brainwashing and no longer believe that the big A is coming),- if it did I would hope a great portion of these dicks get destroyed for destroying the families they have...

Pale.Emperor ยป She asked me if i was going to ever "return to Jehovah". I said no, never. Then she visited Paul (and elder in the congregation). She asked Paul what she should do. She doesn't want to shun me and thinks its not right. Paul told her "dont worry about it". He said that announcement was wrong and doesn't expect anyone to follow it. And it'll probably be forgotten."

Am I reading this right? If I had left, I don't think I'd use the term "return to Jehovah." I might have said, "You have any intention of going back?" Also, what's "Katie" doing by then going to an elder in the congregation and asking what she should do? Sounds like she was seeking counsel. It may be just me, but are you sure she's all the way out?

Shunning is, to me, the single greatest evil this religion engages in -- worse even than the insipid blood doctrine. By telling active dubs that their eternal welfare depends on them doing what they're told, they're exercising frightening dominion over people.

So what would have happened if the elder had said, "Absolutely not! You're not to have anything to do with Pale.Emperor feller!"

    I just find it curious.

No, HER MOTHER asked the elder if she could still speak to her daughter.
