Their was also an article in JW`s publications WT ? that stated that the United Nations was set up as the Counterfeit Kingdom of God to take away emphasis from the Kingdom of God by Christ Jesus

This is a paraphrase of what was stated however , "The UN as a counterfeit Kingdom of God" was stated.

Can anybody remember where or when this was said in print ? I`m thinking back many years .

    Thanks in advance.

*** kj chap. 4 pp. 60-61 pars. 15-16 Commissioned to Speak in the Divine Name ***

In recommending and supporting the League of Nations as “the political expression of the Kingdom of God on earth” the Federal Council of American churches went directly contrary to the words of Jesus Christ, when on trial for his life before the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, in 33 C.E., saying: “My kingdom does not belong to this world. If it did, my followers would be fighting to save me from arrest by the Jews. My kingly authority comes from elsewhere.” (John 18:36, New English Bible) By accepting the League of Nations as “the political expression of the Kingdom of God on earth” the members of the Federal Council of American churches were really accepting a counterfeit “Kingdom of God on earth.” Hence, twenty years later when the League of Nations was knocked out of business by the outbreak of World War II and “peace on earth, good-will toward men” were taken away, it was the counterfeit “political expression” that failed, and not the real Kingdom of God as proclaimed in the Gospel of Christ.

16 Certainly, then, back there in the postwar year of 1919 there were none among the war-guilty religious elements of Jewry and Christendom who qualified to be commissioned as the modern-day counterpart or antitype of Ezekiel. Was there no one, then, whom Jehovah could raise up to serve in a way that corresponded to that of that ancient exile in Babylon? Whom could the real “chariot” of Jehovah’s organization roll up to and confront that He might bestow upon this qualified one the commission to speak as a prophet in the name of Jehovah? Ah, there was a group whose members had suffered religious persecution during World War I at the hands of Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, and whose members had, in fact, come out from the religious organizations of Babylon the Great. In fact, they had refused to be a party with Christendom and with all the rest of Babylon the Great in actively taking part in carnal warfare during World War I. Who were they?

    COUNTERFEIT OF GOD’S KINGDOM

16 One big thing counting heavily against Christendom is its part in the United Nations, now in its thirteenth year, the international organization established in 1945 to guarantee world peace and security. When the United Nations started functioning in January of 1946, the physical properties of the dead League of Nations were turned over to the U.N. as its successor. Back in January of 1918, in the very throes of World War I, the American president, Woodrow Wilson, proposed the League of Nations. The very next month Jehovah’s witnesses, as represented by the president of the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society, began preaching the startling message, “The World Has Ended—Millions Now Living May Never Die.” Early in the following month prominent witnesses of Jehovah began to be arrested in America for preaching God’s kingdom as the one and only hope for all mankind, and in the course of months the sentencing of them to long imprisonment followed. The issue was then plainly before the American churches of Christendom: God’s kingdom or the League of Nations—which should professing Christians choose?

The UN does not have authoritative power over all other nations, therefore it is not a global world power .

It was established so that nations could come together to resolve conflicting problems in a open public forum of conversation and debate in an effort to stop nations from going into a warring state.

This organization does actually help religious organizations like the JWS to operate without prejudice in countries, usually as NGOs .

A lot of the WTS's fixation on the UN actually has its origins in McCarthy/Cold War -era conspiracy theory...

...i.e. the John Birch Society, the writings of Hal Lindsay, etc.

Understandable in its own way, considering significant portions of the UN Charter were drafted by socialist Europeans, linking them to Soviet and Chinese communism in the eyes of the Right Wing.

And back then, there was a lot more cross-pollinization between American apocalyptic groups, and Freddy Franz' End-Times script clearly reflects it if you're familiar with the phenomenon.

The WTS uses whatever it can find to support the ideology of mankind is living in the last days, if its war and rumors of wars , its " and they shall proclaim peace and security. "

Or its the action of the King of the North etc.

The WTS/JWS has very much been an apocalyptic fear mongering cult and has used this ideology to proliferate most of its published literature.

After so many years of proclaiming the UN the whore of Babylon riding the great beast the WTS heads sat with this figurative whore by joining the UN until it was publicly revealed they did.

Quote - The UN does not have authoritative power over all other nations, therefore it is not a global world power. – End quote

Well, Well, Well! For all you doubters, please note the following:

[Revelation 17:11 And the wild beastit is also itself an eighth king…and it goes off into destruction…13 These have one thought, and so they give their power and authority to the wild beast.]

[1-15-00 WT – Here the apostle John mentions seven kings, representing seven world powers—Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, and the Anglo-American dual world power. He also sees “an eighth king” that “springs from the seven.” This eighth king—the last one that John envisions—now represents the United Nations. John says that this eighth king “goes off into destruction,” after which no further earthly kings are mentioned.]

[Revelation Climax – As John soon learns, the time will come when the UN will act with considerable authority. Then it, in its turn, “goes off into destruction.”]

[6-15-12 WT – Any power it (8th king/U.N.) has comes from its member nations, especially from its key backer, the Anglo-American World Power. (Rev. 17:10, 11) But it does receive authority to act as a king to carry out a specific task, one that triggers a chain of events that will change history.]

[Rev 13:1 And I saw a wild beast ascending out of the sea…5 And a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies was given it, and authority to act forty-two months was given it.]

So what are the facts Johnamos ?

If figurative ancient mythology is fact to you, you might want to see a psychiatrist .

Like I said before the UN was established to help and unite nations into resolving their problems through open dialog and debate. If certain nations dont abide to the conclusions and suggestions made, they can withdraw and carry on their own direction and will.

Russia is a recent good example of that.

Thank you Anna Marina for finding those quotes .....By accepting the League of Nations as “the political expression of the Kingdom of God on earth” the members of the Federal Council of American churches were really accepting a counterfeit “Kingdom of God on earth.”

The issue was then plainly before the American churches of Christendom: God’s kingdom or the League of Nations—which should professing Christians choose?

    { And the above also apply`s to the United Nations }

And finkelstein ,.After so many years of proclaiming the UN the whore of Babylon riding the great beast the WTS heads sat with this figurative whore by joining the UN until it was publicly revealed they did.

These examples of what was written, taught and believed by JW`s is not insignificant and should not be lost on anyone.

Nor should the fact that the WTB&TS lied about the criteria for becoming a member of the UN as an NGO that required NGO`s to promote the the activities ,programs of the UN ,which they did in certain Awake articles during the years of there membership.

Again it would be appreciated if someone can resurrect those articles for all to see.

    Thank you

johnamos , ...Maybe not all of the political powers / nations of the earth view the UN as a world power however by their own writings the WTB&TS certainly did.

And they criticised Christendoms religions for having any part of it , then hypocritically joined it as an NGO .

    ....

Fink, you are describing the present authority of the UN now and since it’s founding. But there will become a point to which the UN will be given absolute authority and that point will be due to WW3. The League of Nations came about due to WW1 and the UN due to WW2. Another war is what it will take to convince nations and peoples that the world needs the UN to act with such authority for the good of the world.

[Rev 13:1 And I saw a wild beast ascending out of the sea…5 And a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies was given it, and authority to act forty-two months was given it.]

Revelation 17:11 And the wild beast…it is also itself an eighth king…and it goes off into destruction…13 These have one thought, and so they give their power and authority to the wild beast.]

That is what the Bible describes, but being that y'all here don't believe the Bible, then you can still see by George Bush, Walter Cronkite, Pope, etc that there is a goal to have the UN as THE world power (one world government).

Smiddy, Please don't imagine that the WTS being an NGO and or withdrawing from such when it came to light, is what made them part of the UN or not. They are still very much a part of it behind the scenes.

[12-15 12 WT - In a selfish and nationalistic world, it is refreshing to find individuals who can and do look beyond national borders. Granted, overcoming prejudices can be difficult. The founder of the television network CNN, Ted Turner, comments about his work with a number of talented individuals from various nations: “Meeting with these people was an incredible experience. I came to see those from other countries not as ‘foreigners,’ but as fellow citizens of the planet. I began to view the word ‘foreign’ as pejorative and created a rule within CNN that the word could not be used either on air or in conversation around the office. Instead, the word ‘international’ was to be used.”]

(Simplified) [12-15 12 WT - We live in a world where many people are selfish and think that their own nation is the best nation. But it is good to know that there are some who love people of all nations. Of course, it may take effort to change the way we think about other people. Ted Turner, who started the television network CNN, worked with talented people from around the world. He said: “I came to see those from other countries not as ‘foreigners,’ but as fellow citizens of the planet.” He made a rule that his employees were not allowed to use the word “foreign.” Instead, they were supposed to use the word “international.”]
