Imagine how this applies to JWs in employment settings where confidentiality is paramount and protected under law such as health providers and hospitals.
For example, a JW medical typist may learn through her work that a sister has had a medical procedure such as an abortion but is not married. This exact scenario was raised in one of the Watchtower's a few decades ago and the admonition to the typist was to report the matter to the local elders.
According to government legislation such as the Privacy Act, if an employee divulges the private medical information of a patient to a third party, - or even accesses private medical information when they are not involved in the treatment of the patient - that employee will be immediately suspended from employment and an investigation undertaken with likely dismissal resulting if guilty.
I have not come across any more recent articles in JW organization on this employment setting. Perhaps to state as much in black and white would be too much even for JW organization.
However, no doubt if a medical typist divulges private medical information to elders and is then sacked, s/he would view it as persecution for following the Bible. Disgusting.
