What about Cats and Dogs?

I was thinking (as I am wont to do) while driving this weekend, about God killing 279 million Americans of the US kind at the big A. It is hypothetical, but something the 900,000 JW’s here in US believe. Is God so cruel that along with all the people he is going to kill all their pets too? After all with 50 million households or more, most of which have at least a dog or a cat, (many one or more of each, plus fish, birds, snakes and whatever) who will care for all those animals once the people are zapped.

O.K., so people get eaten by Alsations (to quote Bridget Jones) but after feeding on all the people what happens next? And what about all the cows, pigs, sheep, goat and other livestock that are totally dependant on humankind? I suppose that if the JW God is capable of killing little children and babies then he is quite capable of killing Fido, Tibbles and friends. But do the animal rights people know about this?

    hey thirdson,

In my 30 jw years, it's my understanding that the Bible is silent on the subject of what happens to all the totally human dependent animals during/after Armageddon. That's the jw catchall phrase - silence, therefore, no speculation.

I've come to realize that no speculation means no independent reasoning.

So, reasoning on the matter - what becomes of the billions of human-dependent animals? They die of disease, thirst, starvation - mostly long, cruel deaths. Afterall, according to Bible, the WTBTS, and humans in general - they are just animals.

I don't believe the jw's think God will kill the billions of animals - just allow them to die slowly and painfully.

Another thing jw's don't talk about to householders.

What has been the case in other Bible scenarios? Did the God of the Bible spare anything in the flood?

How about in Israelite warfare? Fo example Moses was wrathful at the officers of the army because they spared the women and children. The soldiers were ordered to kill everybody but the virgins that they could then use for themselves. This was typical, as we all know.

How could such a God have any concern for animals? There are other instances that I don't care enough to look up where the Israelites killed everything they could in the 'peaceful' cities they attacked without provocation.

And then, somewhere, there was the instance where the brutal soldiers hamstrung every horse of the 'enemy.' This crippled them. May have even led to a slow death for them?

Oh! and how about the law where you could have your child STONED for being stubborn? Fine people, they were!

How DID I ever take the Bible seriously? I would really recommend any of the several books on the market dealing with the truthfulness of the Bible.

you have struck a nerve, Mr. Patio!

My wife and I have just spent a year nursing a min pin back from renal kidney failure. Every day he lives and shows 30% of his former vigor, we rejoice. When he has bad days, we are totally down.

Weren't we "created in God's image"?

No, no, no. You have it all wrong. The animals won't die, they will start to eat straw.

When in doubt about God's "plan," take a lesson from His history with man: the more killing the better. Therefore, all the beloved and pampered household pets, expensive racehorses, exotic talking parrots, pet chimps and other apes, elephants, llamas, amazingly brilliant and docile orcas in water parks and a whole host of other wonderful critters will be toast.

    But He LOVES you! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    Waiting,

A few years ago there was a CO going around telling everyone with pets to be careful not to idolize them. I think this guy hated animals, no kids pictures of paradise in his Saturday night meeting (Thursday night for all late vintage JW's).

Regarding cats he said the Bible make no mention of them (obviously he forgot that lions and leopards are cats too) and as for dogs they are only spoken of in a derogatory way. According to him JW's might have to give up their pets or even eat them in the Great Tribulation.

Not a popular guy as far as I can remember.

    TMS,

My apologies--I do go off on tangents sometimes.

What is a 'min pin back'? I hope it gets better!

My point wasn't that humans were so cruel, but the Bible is replete with cruelties favorably presented.

    I enjoy your posts, btw.

    Waiting,

Thanks for making my gender known!

Y'all better watch out because my little sister is an empress!!
