Has Anything Positive Come Out Of This Coronavirus Isolation For You?

I guess you could make a case of more families being together although that might not be the best situation. Less cars and pollutants mean we can breathe better. If you were ever uncomfortable in crowds, this could be good news.

    Personally, I think it sucks!

    MINIMUS:

The only thing positive from this lockdown is that I will never take for granted that I can go out wherever I want, shop wherever I want and mingle with people when I want - and that I didn’t have to wear an annoying mask!

Like you, I agree this is awful and I want things to go back to being as normal as possible soon. The last time things seemed ‘normal’ was sometime in February then it turned into the Twilight Zone.

There are usually some positives in any situation. For me:

    • I get to spend more time with family ("I'm not trapped here with you, you're trapped in here with ME!" - Rorschach, Watchmen)
    • Sitting outside more in the evenings instead of just watching TV or continuing to work (bought a fire-pit so we have a change of scenery after working in the house all day)
    • Catching up on specific shows rather than just watching what's on TV
    • Better off financially (lower costs because people not going out to work / uni, exchange rates work in our favour + good investment opportunities for pension)
    • Having more home-cooked food (although we're also ordering regularly from local restaurants to support them, less 'convenience' junk food though - now I typed that I want a big-mac and fries!)
    • More constant contact with close friends (chat online throughout the day rather than just catching up when we see them)
    • Have gone out for walks more, but played Pokemon less
    • Planning what we need to buy so we do one big shop rather than just going for things we forgot the next day (never a big deal, we're only a few mins away)
    • Have a good supply of food so feel more "prepared"

I've worked remotely from home for several years so my life hasn't changed as much as many others have - just everyone else is home with me ("there's people in the house!"). It's just slightly more inconvenient going shopping and we don't get to go to the pub for Sunday lunch or dinner which used to be our routine.

I would like to see a situation where all churches, synagogues, and mosques remain closed down forever and bibles, qurans, and torahs are in such short supply that it makes the toilet paper shortage look like a glut. These three religions are a pandemic that makes coronavirus look like nothing--and that is even if the worst case scenarios I have seen were the truth (the 10% death rate, the 50% permanent damage of survivors--which I know is not the truth).

Other than that, I would like to see the restrictions stop getting tighter as the virus levels off. I am in a situation where, if I am going to get coronavirus, I would have it by now. I work at a supermarket, and I would rather take the one in a million chance of dying from coronavirus than the chance of dust and mold spores from a mask creating worse problems. I have had my exposure--as has most everyone else (aside those who strictly took all sanitation measures). Do I need to have my temperature read every time I go to work or shop? Especially when I could have a temperature of 102 or 103 just from hard riding in hot weather--or I could spread coronavirus without even having any symptoms.

I have seen little good coming from this, aside perhaps the boasting sessions cancelled and no field circus. And no, I have still not gone inside one of those rubbish walmart abominations. Instead, I stick with one of the best supermarkets in the world, and ordering online. Including my vitamins.

I've built three model kits, binged two Netflix series, and am more well-rested than I have been in months...

...but I'd still go back to work tomorrow if I could, because EI benefits are never big enough.

I have worked from home for years so not much difference there. The rest of my workmates have been going to work everyday through this whole mess. The GM and I made a decision to switch to local suppliers for things we could, to try and support the local economy and it has worked out really well. Most of the local vendors could come close on pricing but we are saving thousands on freight. Our corporate office CEO has been amazing, giving updates, being even handed, balancing keeping everyone safe while still getting our work done.

I got some bargains in the stock market a few weeks ago - one has already more than doubled 😀

One of our dogs is in the end stages of life and I haven’t had to travel for work so I have been able to stay home with him and pamper him a little more.

But, I miss being able to go to the store whenever/wherever I want and buying what I am used to. I miss being able to go out to dinner on Fridays nights, going shopping, to the movies, the casino.........anywhere.

I got to stay home with our dog and I'm so happy I did. She passed away a year or so ago and there isn't a day goes by that I don't miss her. She hated being left alone and always wanted to be next to you, so she went everywhere with me. It was wonderful.

You look back on stages in your life and only realize later it was the best of times. My favourite moment was going to pick the kids up from school (which she would remind me to do!) and see her staring intently out of the window looking for "her people" to appear (but lapping up the attention from other kids going past in the meantime) then going mental when they did.

    She was just pure joy.
