The Governing Body are doubling down on dogma!

It's the November 2016 Watchtower. They make this claim on page 9 para 6

Living without the help of God’s organization and his standards would result in unhappiness and misery.

Another very bold claim, stating that in order not to have unhappiness and misery we need the help of JW dot org.

Then there is this statement para 9 page 16

Some may feel that they can interpret the Bible on their own. However, Jesus has appointed the ‘faithful slave’ to be the only channel for dispensing spiritual food

The question for that para is "9. What is the only channel that is being used to help us understand God’s Word? "

YouTuber Michael Felker asks whether it's really true that someone cannot interpret the Bible on their own and which parts can he interpret on his own and which parts can't he because it can't be denied that there are parts of the Bible that can be read and understood by the individual.

Regarding para 10 and the mention of Jehovah's chariot Youtuber Michael then asks how do we know when the org. makes changes that they are moving closer to the truth or further away? The measuring stick is always what is put in place by the GB. So if the org. goes up or down so does the JW and the individual therefore has no way to go except up or down along with the GB. Which means going closer to the truth or away from the truth. How can they say that Jehovah is behind that development? The problem is that they are blaming Jehovah for the decisions of the leaders.

    DATA-DOG,

Points 1-4 aren`t they much the same points they lambasted the Roman Catholic Church for ?

The R.C.C .( used) to say they were the only true religion who dispensed truth to the flock that the faithful had to respect ,that only " they" could interpret the Bible ,it was not something individuals could do on their own and that was to ensure unity among the Catholic faithful .

So a thinking JW or anybody else needs to ask these questions :

    1. Why does the GB/JW rely on the Bible Canon that ( in their own words ) appostate Christendom decided upon in the 3rd Century AD.?

    2. In the 1st Edition of the Aid book regarding the name Jehovah they words to the effect :While we cant be sure of the correct pronunciation of Gods name we have settled on the name most commonly used and is familiar to most people. ( And who would that be if not people in Christendom ? )

    3. Where does the R&F think the GB/ writing Dept. get their Biblical information from ? when doing their research ? The Masoretic Text ,Westcott & Hort ,The Septuagint ,etc, etc,?

Surprise, surprise, their information comes from no other than christendoms scholars over the centuries .Christendom who they have labelled as apostate after the 1st and certainly by 2nd century AD.

So all the information Jehovahs Witnesses have published for the past 100+ years about the Bible has been based on information given by Christian Scholars that Jehovahs Witnesses have classed as apostates.

Not to mention their version of the Bible that is based on the Protestant (also apostate ) Bible.

    1) God has an organization ( corporation ) that you must respect.
    2) ONLY the GB/Faithful Slave can dispense spiritual food and only the GB/Faithful slave can interpret the Bible.
    3) Individual Dubs absolutely cannot learn "truth" on their own.
    4) God requires "unity of doctrine." [ Guardians of Doctrine?!?! ]

But when you add their comment that they can get things wrong and that they are not inspired and are not infallible then the above 4 points make zero sense.

Thats exactly what I was going to mention! How in Nov do they claim to be the only channel for discerning scripture and truth - with the info coming from Jesus. YET in an upcoming Watchtower (Feb?) they admit to not being inspired?

    #soconfusing 🤔🤔🤔

Quite remarkable that this religion is so closed to the Catholic dogma of Papal infallibility. The only difference is that we have a body of 7 Popes and Catholics have only 1.

This isn't logical. When an individual accepts a religion, weather it is Catholics, Baptists or JWs, he needs to read the bible, interpret it, and than chooses the closest religion based on his understanding. What the society does here is making the individual feel like he didn't find anything on his own at all.

Clearly, at some point, people heard the truth as relieved and dispensed by the Catholics or other religions and didn't like what they heard. In the end, it is the individual's right to accept or reject a particular teaching. What the JW want however is to lure people in with teachings such as "the resurrection on an earthly paradise" and then, take ownership of their personal beliefs.

Because you agree with us that there will be a paradise earth, you also need to accept every other teachings that WE believe. Even when you don't agree.

    And yet...

"The Governing Body is neither inspired nor perfect. It can make mistakes when explaining the Bible or directing the organization."

Honestly, I'm starting to think that either the WT leadership are losing their f**king minds, or they're deliberately trying to cause so much cognitive dissonance in the rank-and-file that they lose their f**king minds...

    No surprise there.

Just to add another spanner into their works is the January 2017 broadcast. It's mostly about the bible and advertising their 'Bible Tour' at Warwick in a few months.

The Broadcast goes into detail about how the Bible has been preserved over the centuries and commend those men that died faithful to Jehovah under extreme persecution and their determination to make the Bible available to the masses.

Yet, if we were to go along with their theory, why is it only at the end of the 19th Century that individuals are no longer able to understand the Bible on their own and need an organization to do it for them?
