Samuel Herd's announcement about finances and Bethel reductions. Now we have in the May 2019 broadcasting an appeal to the worldwide brotherhood to consider a full-time career at Bethel. Seriously, which is it we must conserve and reduce personnel to save money or not? It’s like the old joke.

Strange that they discourage pillow humping but heavy alcohol drinking is tolerated and practised , even by some of the higher echelons.
Hey, before I joke around- I have no problem with people being gay. But Watchtower does.
That said, I just wonder if finding young people in the prime of their hormonal urges time of life, males who refrain from porn, masturbation, and then put them under strict control in an all-male environment wouldn't just cause them to experiment with homosexuality.
I am reminded of a prison saying: "I am not gay, but sometimes you just hook a brother up to help him out."

Heavy drinking is perhaps the longest-standing Bethel tradition, going back nearly 100 years to the reign of Boozy Judge Joe.
Pillow humping aka masturbation is of course "sex with someone you love"...and religion in general, and particularly JWs, have long since figured out that if you can convince people to repress their natural sexual desires, you can convince them to do pretty much anything else you want.
