    LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — For the first time in the history of the Jehovah’s Witnesses religious organization, they will be holding their worldwide annual conventions virtually.

    I am not sure if they have finally decided to make the on line thing permanent, or left the way open for it to go back to real live Conventions at a later date, if they have not done so, I am sure they will, in the near future , make that decision.

    The Conventions, some in expensive Venues, cannot be the money spinners they were, and probably they will make the correct assumption that Donations will increase a little, just after each on line one, as JW Drones show their appreciation for " The best Convention ever ! and all the wonderful Spiritual Food !" LOL, so they will not be out of pocket by any means.

    It always has been, and is now more so, ALL ABOUT THE $$$ !!

    No books, no book study groups, no conventions, no public preaching, no smacking at the back of the Kingdom Hall ... is there anything left of this religion as it used to be?

    Oh yes, there’s still shunning if you claim the Governing Body are wrong! We’re pared down to essentials, but let’s not get crazy here.

    Ha ha Smiddy!

    I think I was born too early or something....if I hadn't left the Org in absolute disgust at the corruption, I could have had it so easy now!

    I pioneered when it was 100 hours a month and our big "treat" was a week-long convention sitting out in the sun and getting a pocket-sized Crayola colored book to add to our other pocket-sized brightly colored books.

    Now, I could sit at home in my PJs for the con(vention) and download and print my own stuff.

    Good times for young JWs!

    Like I keep saying, the COVID crisis has given them the ideal pretext to transition to an e-religion... something more and more of us believe was on the Org’s to-do list.

    Sure, there’ll still be in-person events from time to time, but the rank-and-file have now been primed for it in way that must seem almost God-sent to the WT leadership.

    Further KH and AH sales should all but confirm it, IMO.

    Possibly Vidiot, but let’s be clear what the implications of them becoming an e-religion would be. Donations would drop significantly, as they have done already during the COVID crisis, judging by their frequent references in correspondence to contingencies for congregations that are short of money. They will of course generate money in the short term if they sell their property assets, but this is a one time boost, and is a long term strategy that would ensure decline and future financial problems. Because once all the property is sold, and JWs are donating less than ever, what’s the next move after that? With donations down, and all their assets gone, there would be nothing left to fall back on. Selling assets for ongoing operational expenses is a downward spiral, and a precipitous one at that. The only reason I can think why they would even contemplate such a disastrous long term strategy, if indeed they are, is because the short term finances leave them with absolutely no other option.

    @slimboyfat ...

    Yes, the "contribution" box, whether physical or virtual.

    Well I guess the child molesters amongst them will have less opportunities to groom young ones with no meetings etc
