Hadn't seen a thread started on this so I thought I'd start a tribute thread to one of the great actors / entertainers over the years we've enjoyed watching. He had a wicked, dry sense of humor, especially on the Johnny Carson show, great acting in Deliverance, so if anybody would like to share stories, you tube snippets of talk show appearances, or pieces from movies- feel free to do so ! Rest in peace Burt, you brought us some really cool entertainment, thanks for the memories.

It's so weird that this conversation with Johnny Carson centers on two things that most people under 40 today do not have experience with, the height of Burt's popularity and gas rationing in the early 70's. He might come off a bit smarmy about his accolades but he was being self deprecating. He and Dom Deluise were the best together.

WASANELDER- Thanks for the youtube, great stuff, pretty funny. He and Dom Deluise were really great together. Yeah, he had a dry, self deprecating sense of humor that the unobservant eye would think is conceited, thinking it was being smarmy, however the fact that he kept a poker face and didn't smile when being funny, made it that much better. lol.
Here's another earlier appearance on the Johnny Carson show when he made Deliverance :

Here's another really funny satire snippet of Saturday Night Live with a fake " Sean Connery " and " Burt Reynolds " playing Celebrity Jeopardy - pretty hilarious.

Burt Reynolds did a hell of a job as Quint the 'half breed' blacksmith on Gunsmoke. He had a wide range as an actor but didn't seem to get the roles that would showcase his abilities. He loved both Dinah Shore and Sally Field........lucky bastard!

SPARKY- Yeah, I read that he was on Gunsmoke quite a bit early in his career. I'll have to watch some of those old episodes. Thanks for the heads up ! Indeed he was quite the lady's man. But pretty classy about it . Peace out, Mr. Flipper
