Regarding the comments on showing up for work, this was the old days with food service, etc. My pioneer partner (need-was-greater young and energetic guys) and I were told to report for work at 6:30 a.m. The work overseer usually waltzed in after 8 o'clock. Mind you, this was a seven-day District Convention, the program/field service schedule running from about nine o'clock a.m. to nine p.m.
With travel to and from and our all-day work assignment, we might have caught a few hours shut eye. Would I do it all again?
