When I think of how I was at 20-24, being an Elder would have been a terrible idea. I didn't like it being the only guy going out in service with women because the prayer and field service meetings had to be done by me. Here I was barely out of my teens and women with all these years of experience had to keep quiet. It is so stupid.

Here ,the GB are admitting that a large number of younger people are turning away from the religion and are just biding their time till they are old enough to leave completely .

    IMHO

And here they are just referring to males ,I`ll bet the same is also true about young females leaving in droves or just biding their time until they can leave home and the religion .

Back in the day, I was on several judicial committees. One married elder asked very explicit questions on two of the committees where sexual immorality was involved. The one in particular was a young brother who was on a cruise with his parents and several other JW families. This brother played guitar and loved hanging around the bands. One night after the band finished, a female band member invited this brother back to her room. She gave this brother oral sex and he felt so guilty that he confessed. Said elder asked him exactly what happened and then the questions "did you ejaculate?" "Yes". "Where?" "In her mouth". I wanted to crawl out of there I felt so repulsed by the questions. I think this married elder got his rocks off with his own idea of pornographic questions.

Now to the gist of why I mention this. I can only imagine a young, virginal, unmarried elder under the age of 30 asking questions like this in a judicial hearing. He would probably have the woody of all woody's just thinking about how nice it would be if he was the one receiving the BJ.

I can just see one of these acne face kids telling me how to live my life after my forty years of experience and a college degree. This guy still lives at home with his parents. That's I good laugh! Take that guy seriously?

I seem to remember an old Watchtower article on eldership focussing on a verse that said to “ select wise, discreet and experienced men”..... How can you be , in your early twenties.?

That announcement referred to “ exceptional ministerial servants “. How do they judge exception? By pioneer hours ? We know that means nothing...

Youtube has a video entitled, ''Discussion: The Governing Body Asks For Younger Elders''

A young Stephen Lett ( without the rubbery face, in his New York City office ) talking about quality, over quantity when it comes to the Jehovah's Witness membership. ( We don't need stinking high numbers, we just need productive field service volunteers)

He says,'' Sure, you can relax the standard and you can perhaps attract more people, but Jehovah has never been primarily interested in numbers?"

That announcement referred to “ exceptional ministerial servants “. How do they judge exception? By pioneer hours ? We know that means nothing...

So, what has changed Governing Body?

I can remember, back in the mid-70s, an article in "Awake" Magazine, relating the life experiences of a Witness who had been, at one time, a professional football-playing athlete. I don't recall what professional team that he had played for. I think it was the Cleveland Browns, but I could be wrong on that. At any rate, he came into contact with JWs, studied, and got baptized. The "clincher" for me, was that, he was appointed as an "Elder" after only about 2 years of being associated with the Witnesses. Sheesh! Two years? TWO YEARS??? You have got to be joking! Two years, and appointed as an Elder, or Overseer? An Overseer was supposed to be a "spiritually older man." And, two years of association was considered "spiritually older" and experienced? It just proved to me, in my mind, that the title of "Elder" was just that....a title. Oh, well. Best Regards to all.....Titch.
