Thisismein1972, yes, the man in the video is right. Decades ago, in a situation where I had no power whatsoever, the person who had all the power, all the money, all the prestige from those on the outside, and who rode roughshod over my feelings and wishes... claimed that he had to “walk on eggshells” around me. Looking back, it was a laughable assertion.

Watchtower’s concern with internet security is warranted. They need secure communications in order to discuss amongst lawyers how to keep JW pedophiles safe.

Toblerone5, Yes, the Mormons may give Evans his just deserts. It would save exjws the effort and expense.

I don't think he has anything to worry about with regards to the Mormons. He is very, very small fish to them. I'm sure people belonging to the religion will hassle him, but that's no different from anyone else who criticizes them, and there are many who do.

He may try to play it off as being harassed by the LDS Church for taking a stand or what have you. He's got enough of an ego to believe it, too. But they're not going to care. What could the Mormons do to Evans's reputation that he didn't already do himself? It might be amusing to watch as the ones who decide to engage with him learn about him and who he really is...

Apparently John Dehlin of the Mormon Stories Podcast (the Cedars of the Mormon world) has got in some trouble for his behaviour too, but nothing as bad as LE, it seems to me.

The issue was him misrepresenting his interest in Mormonism to the missionaries, but he reframes it as: “if you think reasons for believing the LDS faith should be kept secret and never spoken about publicly unless it’s through the filter of the church, that’s very telling”. Yeah, nice try Lloyd. Nobody said that. They are objecting to you being a slimeball. He is so estranged from the truth that he lies without effort. Plus he claims he has respect and admiration for the missionaries, but didn’t he call them frumpy?

Will any ex Mormons become his Patreons?

Mormons are interesting. Contrary to what many think, and what the Mormon church would like to project, there are far fewer Mormons than there are JWs. (Fewer than 5 million active members compared with more than 8 million JW publishers) They are also more geographically concentrated in the Americas, and within the Americas in the United States, and within the United States in Utah, Idaho and the southwest. They are also much richer and better educated than JWs. And they have stronger sense of “cultural Mormonism” than JWs. Altogether Mormons and ex Mormons have quite a distinct character compared with JWs and ex JWs. I don’t see what LE has to offer in that arena at all. He is probably under the illusion it’s a bigger “market” than exJWs for him to break into, but that is not the case. Even the largest ex Mormon YouTube channels, such as John Dehlin’s Mormon Stories, are not that large.
