Lloyd seems, to me, to be angry with “God” in general.

Yep, methinks “he protesteth too much”.

Like a kid proclaiming their innocence when the guilt is obvious, LE seems to think his beliefs (yes, atheism can be classified as a belief system) are a badge of honor.

IMO this does nothing to validate his exJW status. Probably the opposite.

    Cheers,

Ozzie 🍷( of the soliloquising class🤔)

@Kim Silvio whenever you're back around...

Have you or anyone sent a similar letter as the one you sent to his attorney to Patreon, pointing out that Lloyd admits that his patrons are "the most reliable" part of his salary and that he's using money to visit prostitutes, even in Thailand? I think some people tried to contact Patreon and complain but maybe not with the well-researched facts to back up their statements.

Wiki gives a newly minted term: slacktivism.
”Performative activism is activism done to increase one’s social capital rather than because of one’s devotion to a cause. It is often associated with surface-level activism, referred to as slacktivism. The term gained an increased usage on social media in the wake of the George Floyd protests.”

That term is new to me and does it ever fit. We see so many "slacktivists" out there. They take the form of fake outrage to people just wanting to fit in. We also see them in the form of bots set up by some of these influencer groups. Frankly the whole practice ruins any true activism and debate.

    No, it can't.

That is an excellent idea! It probably will have more effect coming from a retired lawyer rather than any of us.

Question: Why is Lloyd so bent on Kim proving her lawyer status? I mean she doesn't say she is practicing. She has always stated that she is retired as far as I know. So, what does it matter?

    Nicolaou said: No, it can't.

I would have to agree with ozziepost on this one. It is a belief system. The belief of not believing in God.

I don't want to derail this topic but if either yourself or ozziepost would like to start a new one I'd be happy to contribute.

All I would say here is that atheism propounds nothing, it has no tenets and holds no beliefs - not even the belief that there is no god, that's a common misconception.

Atheism has become a political movement for many atheists in the USA. And at the fringes, people treat politics like religion. So the more fervent atheists are, in a sense, acting like they are religious.

ForeverAlone: Why is Lloyd so bent on Kim proving her lawyer status?

He wants focus attention on her credentials and away from his moral failings and legal shenanigans. He might also think he can use the information against her. I think he wants to make it seem that there is something suspicious going on, in the hopes of undermining anything she says. Since his first step was to admit that everything she said was true, it's not a particularly effective approach.
