Who else provides all this spiritual food?

Two days ago, I experienced a spiritual epiphany while visiting the library of a catholic university: I was shocked to find thousands of religious literatures produced by the Catholics and Protestants in the last few hundred years. Someone could easily spend a secluded lifetime trying to read them all.

For years, I was told by my religious leaders (JWs) that the Catholics and other religions did not provide spiritual food to their members. In contrast, the JWs had produced thousands of articles and about a hundred books! The size of the JWs library available to the public has always been an argument used by the JWs as proving that they were chosen by God to feed the Christian community.

Well, now I realized that this argument is false. The Catholics easily out do the JWs library by thousands of books!! And yes, such libraries are open to the public! And while this might not have always been the case, it is safe to assume such information was available by the time the JWs started their own activity.

It is certainly a strange feeling realizing that I grew up in a religion that hid this from me. Had I known this type of thing existed where Christianity is studied through so many different angles, I could have gone into religious studies. I even remember this being the first option presented by my guidance counsellor when I was a kid. Obviously, as a JW, this was not an option. And now, or should I say, two days ago, I finally fully understand what I have missed; I’m 40. What a waist.

Comparative religious studies is a very valuable pursuit, especially in youth before the mind closes. I've been honored to have spoken to university classes a couple times as part of a religious studies course. The students all had opinions but the discussion was lively and constructive. Many of the students live you had only a single perspective and their eyes were trained on me when I spoke about my experience and conclusions. The same class has invited active JWs but the professor said it felt like they were being preached to rather than being interviewed. Great experiences, though to be honest it was a bit emotionally taxing reliving it.

When you are in the JW bubble, there is no outside world. This is the true sign of a cult. If you let someone explore any outside source, it becomes "dangerous." Dangerous that you may leave Watchtower. If you leave, your wallet also leaves.

"For years, I was told by my religious leaders (JWs) that the Catholics and other religions did not provide spiritual food to their members"

They provide spiritual food but where is the source coming from is the question you should have asked.

The scriptures are clear the preachers provide food but its JUNK food from teaching of Demons:

    1 Tim 4-1

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.

. "The Catholics easily out do the JWs library by thousands of books!!"

And Catholics murdered anyone who tried to translate the scriptures from the dead language of Latin ,keeping people in the dark of its false teaching of Demons

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tyndale

Tyndale's translation was the first English Bible to draw directly from Hebrew and Greek texts, the first English translation to use Jehovah ("Iehouah") as God's name as preferred by English Protestant Reformers,[4] t

It was taken to be a direct challenge to the hegemony of both the Catholic Church and the laws of England maintaining the church's position. In 1530

He was murdered by the Catholic Church for his translating the bible

He was convicted of heresy and executed by strangulation, after which his body was burnt at the stake. His dying prayer was that the King of England's eyes would be opened.

John Wycliffe,The papacy, he believed, reeked of corruption and self-interest. He was determined to do something about it.Wycliffe began publishing pamphlets arguing that, rather than pursuing wealth and power, the church should have the poor at heart. In one tract he described the Pope as “the anti-Christ, the proud, worldly priest of Rome, and the most cursed of clippers and cut-purses”

Wycliffe firmly believed that the Bible should be available to everybody. He saw literacy as the key to the emancipation of the poor. Although parts of the Bible had previously been rendered into English there was still no complete translation. Ordinary people, who neither spoke Latin nor were able to read, could only learn from the clergy. Much of what they thought they knew – ideas like the fires of hell and purgatory – were not even part of Scripture.

With the aid of his assistants, therefore, Wycliffe produced an English Bible,a bill was placed before parliament to outlaw the English Bible and to imprison anyone possessing a copy. After his death the church resumed its persecution of the now-dead Wycliffe [he died in 1384].

Shorn of alternatives, the best they could do was to burn his bones [in 1427], just to make sure his resting place was not venerated. The Archbishop of Canterbury explained that Wycliffe had been “that pestilent wretch, of damnable memory, yea, the forerunner and disciple of antichrist who, as the complement of his wickedness, invented a new translation of the scriptures into his mother-tongue”.

In 1427, Pope Martin ordered that John Wycliffe’s bones be exhumed from their grave, burned and cast into the river Swift. Wycliffe had been dead for 40 years

With this murderous background of the Church one has to ask or should wonder about its translation, obviously God was not behind the church burning people who just translated scripture ,yet this was the food they were and still today feeding the ignorant ones who failed to heed the command to get out of false religion.

New American Standard Bible Rev 18-4
    I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues;

The instrument that feeds spiritual food is the KingJames Bible

An article in the Look Magazine in 1952 exposed the Catholic Church translation saying it contained at least 50,000 errors that's fifty thousand

    This was the actual magazine

Yes I would have to agree with that , I have a close friend who was brought up a Catholic and I was surprised of the books of literature the Catholic religion puts out and he stated there is much more.

So this proclamation that the WTS is the only organization puts forth spiritual food via literature is self supporting BS.

But since the WTS is a religious publishing house and its sales representatives are the JWS, maybe not so surprising given that fact.

What is also a fact, the WTS spiritual food is tainted from corrupt commercialism.

Most JWS are blindsided by that fact though.

For me, "food at the proper time" is when I am praying through a trial or struggling to understand something or seeking answers and I am reading the Bible and it speaks to these things. Or I go to church and the song sung or the message is just what I needed in that moment, or something my husband says that gives me that extra piece I was missing. The source is God, the food can come from anyone he is using to provide it.

Alex Williams: The scriptures are clear the preachers provide food but its JUNK food from teaching of Demons:

The argument to which I was referring to was the QUANTITY of the food, not the quality.

Much of your response focuses on the quality of the food and the history of the church. While this would be enough for another thread of its own, I wanted to focus on the fact that I was told that the people did not have access to any spiritual food, which, clearly, is not the case today.

You may also ponder on the fact that while JWs consider the teachings of other religions as “junk” and “teachings of demons”, this is also how other religions feel concerning the teachings of JWs; especially when it comes to the practice of shunning and refusal of life saving blood transfusions.
