Nice find. It's a little win for reasonableness and humanity but still a small win is better than no win. Now if courts will wake up and remove the "charity status" and 501.3.c tax exempt status of the Watchtower Real Estate Corporation, then I think we could see the light at the end of this nightmare...
Good!
They can fool some of the people some of the time ...
Reminds me of this bit of wisdom:
1 Corinthians 3
"501.3 c tax exempt status" pertains to the US only not to Nambia or inside other countries. If the US steps in to remove it from being used by the WTS, it would have to prove that it is not a qualified charity or religion. Based on how Scientology continues to exist despite revelations about its doings, the US government will not soon be removing that from US law. An attack on one religion, is perceived by other religions in the US as an attack on them as well...they will fight hard to stop that being done.
Oh well...it looks like Jah took another smoke break. Where is he? WT didn't win in Russia and it did not win this one either! Oh my, what is going on, no blessings. But we always have the ole PERSECUTION CARD to use.
Well said toesup!
Does anyone see this as another branch office that will close in the very near future?
Interesting that the Namibian government passes laws that protect the rights of volunteer bethel works and the first thing the Watchtower tries to do is shut down their bethel operations so they don't have to give rights to JWs.
Good thing the government refused to allow them to deregister. They knew exactly what was going to happen. The JWs had no intention of shutting shop in Namibia but rather to reform under another name to avoid liability.
You've got to wonder about the mindset of the god of that religion.
The judge managed to see through the whole mindset of Watchtower.
“The congregation cannot pick and choose which laws should apply to them and which may not … it is evident that an employment relationship exists between the two parties,” explained Unengu, adding that the church cannot get a free card just because it is doing the work of God.
Every time Watchtower proves that they do think they can pick and choose which laws apply, and that laws they don't like don't apply 'becoz Johoover'.
You guys are so fast picking up the news ! Cant even beat you from the African continent itself ! .....lol
The matter of what constitutes a Labour / work relationship is well documented in the Namibian and South African labour statutes and so this guise WT has been using of Vows of Poverty is proving to be shite !
Onward and Forward !!
